I just started collecting things we / I love . I don’t know if I can decorate ik just one style . How can I mix styles like Mexican and traditional Spanish decor ? Or English and French ? I love color but not bold I. Your face color that makes my Add go crazy . Lol . Love the colors of Mexican design but love the brown furniture . Can’t stand the trendy painted furniture . I feel like ppl on Facebook MP are ruing beautiful vintage and antiques . I guess I will try to mix a bit of antiques with modern and vintage . I’ve been so behind watching my favorite designers . May I ask where you got your beautiful chin my table from ?

I'm with you Drew, I am soooo over pillows! They got ridiculous in the end, and as one friend said, "I'm so tired of tossing a ton of pillows off the bed to sleep at night and lifting up the pillows again to make the bed." I also liked the shot you had of brown pillows on a brown sofa, so they almost disappeared. I inherited some of my grandmother’s things and my moms from traveling the world( Air Force brat here) so my house is British colonial/ West Indies , transitional to incorporate all them and my likes. I think the best trend is to use a neutral backdrop- natural colors on walls, floor and ceilings- then pop it up with art, objects, textiles. You get away from trends that way and its so easy to change up your mood with just accessories. Also if anybody hates painting walls like I do, its a god send to have neutral walls. Purple wall trim and blue fireplace mantles with yellow walls just don't cut it.

I think the US is too obsessed with trends. I think it is mostly fueled by a capitalistic need to keep people buying stuff. If you look at Europe, especially the older wealthier houses, they decorate more classic, with furniture, rugs, etc. that are timeless. The idea is for things to be valuable and well built enough to last. The exception to this is the whole IKEA thing, but even that is a style that has not “changed” they way that “trends” do. Just my thoughts. Good style, I think, should be lasting beyond any trend.

I agree, but we are The Corporate States of America, so it's to be expected. I do see people turning away from fast fashion and design and starting to look towards more timeless and classic styles that are sustainable. For example, refurbishing old furniture instead of buying new. After decades of cheap crap, In think more and more people are starting to appreciate the quality and craftsmanship of antiques and vintage items. Yes, even those items front he 80s! They can be updated and then you have a unique, well made, custom piece of furniture that will last a lifetime.

Finally someone who knows what is Shabby Chic and who talks about it by an appropriate way. Your “Coquette” trend (I didn’t know this “Coquette”name, except for the Coquettes in France on the 18th century) made me think of Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic right away. The red colors you showed are very nice. And the crown moldings in foam were already existing in France when I moved in my apartment in Paris in the 80’s, very convenient to complete a job or balance other rooms which were originally more naked. I also found interesting your very present ceilings to attract the eyes to them. Nice photos. It is refreshing to watch a video where what is said is true and shows a real form of knowledge. My point is, if you're going for red, be careful. I love red and green together--a teal like in the above photo is pretty, also a laquer-colored red with jade green is gorgeous. I have been following you for several years and I just today listened to this post at 75% speed and I enjoyed it 100% more! I think my trouble has been that you speak so quickly and give such a wonderful abundance of information that it was difficult for me to take it all in! This made me think about several international channels that I follow and of their followers. I would assume it would be a difficult task, but you are young and could be up for it (as it may very well enhance your overall and worldwide numbers), but perhaps try to slow it down a bit. I enjoy your posts and your bright enthusiasm, it is part of your charm…I want to always, not just occasionally watch your new posts, but for me I really would like for you to slow it down a bit, please. I’m not being critical, only requesting and suggesting. I would rather watch longer, slower posts of yours than shorter quicker ones any day! I am curious how your other followers feel on this. Many write their ages, many are over 50, people over 50 and non-native English speakers prefer hearing a slower speaking voice. I believe statistically it was in 1983 when the “valley girl” speech became popular, and this was a much quicker paced way of speaking…and started the “speed speak” trend….unfortunately it never died! Thank you for you!

Drew! Thank you!! For the intro and the fact that you don’t have to change just because the trends are because as you said they come and go I love your honesty now let’s see what you’re gonna show us today. I love the fact that you reiterate that it’s OK not to follow the trend, that it’s OK to do your own style and to incorporate a few of them! I greatly appreciate the fact that you show us so many different ways to do our homes to make them beautiful to make them our own space but you don’t shove or I don’t feel like you were trying to shove your personality into mine and overpower what I like. So I greatly appreciate that. You understand not all of us like the same thing.❤ happy New Year’s and welcome back to 2024

Good video. As for patterns and colors in drapes, I've been leaning into what is Jake Arnold's style - which is also much of what I love already, only for me this started about 2 years ago. I love limewash, velvets, linens, dark olive, caramel/rust colors...my bedroom is very dark, which is great for sleeping in my case, but hard to see the colors well so I put up cream linen drapes, then I bracketed them on the outer side of windows with rust color linen sheets that I turned into drapes on the sides so more light can enter the room. I moved my bronze velvet drapes into the front bedroom that has much more sunlight and the color is so pretty in there. I couldn't be happier to see warm colors return after all the gloomy, depressing grays. There's a reason to be careful about going overboard on trends. Also, good for you re: designing our houses into our personal homes, what we like and what lets people know who we are. Trend shopping is not a great way to spend money unless there are pieces that fit our styles and we might keep. It's really to make other people money, much like how cosmetics always change and are expensive.

I always gravitate to medium to dark tones of wood for a warm feel. I have seen many using bold wallpaper I love that look. I think Copper is my favorite metal brass #2. I have always loved the old world and victorian style.

Happy New Year. Thank you for giving your take on the new trends. I love what you have done with your new home. I have so many projects for my own home and am now feeling I have the energy to get some of them done. I have mid-tone wood floors and furniture pieces so now I will be on trend! Blessings for a happy, safe, and healthy year.

Keep it classic and add one or two "trend" accessories that aren't expensive. That way you can get rid of them when they're done without regret.

Cottage Core the Light/Dark Academia is really showcasing collections, rich colors, and patterns that were missing, at least for me. But I adore vintage linens. Nothing beats Ralph Lauren and Waverley florals of the 80s.

OMG!!! He totally showed my silverware! They flashed on the screen at 4:58 ... right before the ad for Better Help. They have a curled up spiral at the bottom and they are very chunky. I actually want to sell them to be honest. They are from pottery barn. I have a full set for 4-6 ...I have to check.

Hi Drew Happy New Year, I went to place an order from your shop and received a message saying your shop is no longer available in the App Store. I’m a longtime subscriber and customer and adore all of your videos and decor. I guess I just got spoiled with your shop being handy in the App Store. I’ll still purchase from your shop on the website. Thank you for being so amazing.

I moved to browns in 2023, but added the bronzes and olives instead of reds. Those are colors I have always worn as a dark autum and I love them. I used taupe instead of grays, more subtle and not so cold. I admit I toned the endless grays for sale with taupe. I never liked too many throw pillows, they are a nuisance to me.

You always have this awesome vision on how you want to create. Not everyone has that talent, but know they love it once completed. Be proud of what you have accomplished, it is amazing!!!!!
