no mention of caustic 3? imo the most amazing mobile daw out there... a modular synth, sawsynth, soundfont loading capabilities, wave editor, automation, mixer, FX... has it all :D. (limit of 14 instruments and 2 fx per generator, however)
@mikeexits5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It's fun to see what can be done within the limitations. It's basically impossible to really mix with (for me, a beginner) when you're putting trippy effects on everything haha, but it's mobile so whatever, right? You could always export the stems and put them on your computer DAW if you want to really mix it anyway. I made my most impressive song recently on Caustic after 5 years of on/off Ableton use. Though sadly it's 98% complete and now my phone won't charge. Perfect timing, huh? Lmao.

Emiel333 Official I’m getting helly advanced with GarageBand, condenser dynamic mic running through focusrite into the iPad...I’m a little new that set but give me time with, I’m an all around musician, I know garage band ain’t the only app, I have a few others like drum perfect to make up for the lack of cymbals, I’m a groove metal guitarist who loves hip hop, trap, bassed out south beats, chill and synth wave, electronica, Lori...well everything basically... but creating metal drums on GarageBand is a pain in the dick...so much work to tune the drums and or arrange them and not to mention a lack of plausible cymbals sounds...any suggestions mate
@emiel3335 жыл бұрын
Billy Fubar Personally I love a Cubasis 2 and 3. They have optional drum sets from Roland to Linn and also built in drums from Allen Morgan. Cubasis is also very pleasant to work with. If you’re into metal music, Cubasis is one of the most convenient DAW to record. It goes up to 24 channels of audio recording at the same time. NanoStudio 2 is also a nice DAW but it’s more for electronic music. Another great and paid alternative for GarageBand is Auria Pro. Although I like the workflow of Cubasis, this is the closest you can get on an iPad compared to desktop (it’s similar to Pro Tools). But I must honestly say I use it most for mixing purposes. It has a 64-but double precision mixing engine. So in short I would say give Cubasis a try. Cubasis 2 is permanently 50% cheaper ($24.99) but Cubasis 3 is a new build from the ground up. It also works great with Audio Units. As far as Cubasis goes, I highly recommend the extra in app purchases. It has a drum set collection, two different FX packs and three Waves plug-ins that are equal to its desktop counterparts. If you have a compatible device, you can download Cubasis LE2 and soon probably next month Cubasis LE3 and try it for free with limitations of course. You can find a list of compatible devices to unlock Cubasis LE on the site from Steinberg and the App Store if I’m correct.

Some great apps available, but I've thought against going for an ipad for music use. Im not currently in the Apple ecosystem and would only be buying one for this purpose. Within a few years I could realistically expect failing battery life, dropped support from Apple, lesser performance from the device. Its all expected with any tablet running a modern operating system. However I could buy a hardware synth or sequencer, and providing I maintain it, it should be running the very same in 20 years time as it did on the day I bought it. I think that's the main reason the IOS route isn't appealing to me.
@OGRH3 жыл бұрын
Yeah audiobus was amazing! Now it won’t even launch! Then Apple had the bright idea of eliminating the microphone jack and everything was downhill from there! It was such a good tool for making music and now all of that time and effort learning and mastering it was just a fad for Apple! They suck for that! I’m sure there are new versions of plug-in applications but why should I have to go and re-learn new applications all of the time when the idea is to constantly polish our skills and master what we know how to use!?
@BecomingProductions3 жыл бұрын
@@OGRH I can imagine how frustrating that must be. If I was a regular Apple user and was planning on buying their devices anyway it would be a different story. As it is I've no Apple devices and hearing stories like yours just make me want to keep it that way.

As probably several trillion people have pointed out before me (or maybe not - you need to be pretty old and nerdy to know this), ZX Plectrum simulates the loading screen for old Spectrum games. You got several minutes of horrible noise and colour streaks like that whilst games were loading. Yep, the games took several /minutes/ to load, because they were all on audio cassettes.

thanks for all the great vids, adam. here and also on Groove 3. i always get a lot out of them. Question - What is the current best highest fidelity way to get the audio from the excellent iPad instruments into Ableton? (not headphone out) I've been using iConnectMidi2+ in an aggregate device (mac) for several years, and it works fine but i would like to ditch the hardware, if possible. iConnectivity no longer supports this device, and i'd like a contingency plan in case it goes tits up. The only content i find deals with getting audio INTO iPad, and i'm not interested in doing that. Any new methods you're aware of? thanks.

This is a well made video (perhaps som more judicious editing wouldn't have gone amiss) but this is not a good list at all. How could you not mention Patterning, perhaps the greatest percussion sequencer ever made? Or the FREE Moog Model D app, which sounds stunning and features polyphony and patches? How is 'ZX Plectrum' better than those? It boggles the mind.
