Although I will always have a special place in my heart for period with Dave and Adrian, Janick is a beast. His main power for Maiden is just that he is a beast, free spirit or whatever, but with him this band sounds more alive and especially live shows now that they are all nearly 70yo which makes them lehendary even more ;) Up the fuckin' Irons. The people that complain about Janick's stage moves are the same people who complain that Maiden's last album wasn't Powerslave II. Every time. He was picked by Bruce for his first solo album. He was picked to replace Adrian in Maiden, just like he was picked by Ian to replace Bernie Torme in Gillan. Two of the greatest singers of all time. That's all I need to know. Plus he's a great songwriter. I'm glad they kept him on board.

It’s stupid to compare Gers with Dave, Adrian or anyone else. He is different, and he does not need to be anyone but himself, the world is diverse, so is the diversity that Gers, along with every Maiden member (including past member) brought to Maiden music. I was at the Maiden fan club convention in the Astoria 2 (I believe) in London, back in '95. I was feeling a little anxiety from all the crowd, so when everyone went to get autographs from the band, I sat on a bench away from it all. A guy came running out of the crowd and came and sat next to me. He said "it's manic up there, I had to get out". It was Janick. As I was still feeling anxiety, I turned down his autograph, which I feel guilty about now. We subsequently got mobbed by more Maidenites, after they spotted him. :^D This was a week after meeting Steve at a rock pub called Perry's in Tottenham. I spoke to Steve and told him I was going to the convention. Later on in the evening, he was leaving and he said 'bye' to me and remembered my name, and said "See you at the convention." I was so happy with that, I decided not to speak to him at the convention, in case he didn't remember. :^D

First time I saw him in Maiden, looked weird. But now I get the point. Showmanship added to a sense of Spiritual power (the way he points the guitar to the heights). Not my favorite phrases, since more obvious than Smith’s or Murray’s, but cool if one believes a link to 70’s Hard Rock is ok. Saw him live in the 80’s, with Gillan, excellent playing. In Maiden he is more a choir-guitar, but still making frequently the difference. Imho.

He's not a bad guitarist, but there's nothing unique about him. Plus, the band was never the same once he joined. The time feel isn't as good and the addition of a third guitar just cluttered the sound. I also hate his poser theatrics that detract from Bruce and Steve but that's another story.
@LeandroDelPrete3 жыл бұрын
Truth be told, Harris didn't care much for Adrian's returning to the band. He even gave Janick solos that Adrian wrote (like Hallowed Be Thy Name). All he wanted was Bruce to return, but Bruce wanted Adrian to come along. Knowing how weird three guitars playing the same thing would sound like, Adrian adjusted by tuning drop D to bring in a heavier sound, like we see in Brave New World. But Harris still favors Janick, like he's resented of the time when Adrian departed. This is just a guess, by the way. But I think it makes sense.

Songs like Look for the Truth, the Aftermath, Man on the Edge, When Two Worlds Collide, Como Estais Amigos and Lightning Strikes Twice are gems not everyone seems able to acknowledge. You probably are a fan of Blaze's solo career, right?

@@LeandroDelPrete I really like the first 3 solo albums by Blaze (Blood & Belief especially). Not heard much off his other albums apart from one or two tracks. Must get round to giving it a good listen. Was also a fan of Wolfsbane before Blaze joined Maiden. You mention Como Estais Amigo - that for me is the best song on Virtual XI but the best song he sang for Maiden was Sign Of The Cross

@@npc310177 I really love Como Estais Amigos and Sign of the Cross, but his Maiden song that gets me the most is When Two Worlds Collide. Gives me the goosebumps every time! About Blaze, I guess my preferences are not that different from yours. His best solo albums, to me, are Silicon Messiah, Blood and Belief and The Man Who Should Not Die. Tenth Dimension is good too, but I'm not very fond of his newer material.

I am sure this is going to piss off alot of folks here especially coming from a lifelong Iron Maiden fan. Lets face it, guitar work from Dave and Adrian is epic and hardly matched in any modern music. Their licks are 2nd to none and their composition and technique along with the jaw dropping harmonies made Iron Maiden untouchable in the music world. Janick is none of that. His playing sloppy, predictable and lacks technique. Any 8 year old can slap 50 pitch bends and pull offs and essentially riff through scales with repeating patterns and fill the time slot. Nothing that Janick composes or plays compliments the true Maiden level of song quality. He is a stage presence and that is all. I honestly cringed when they decided to keep him on. I wish Janick would have bowed out and left years ago. Just my honest opinion and if you are musically inclined or appreciate real musical talent, you will think about what I said and hopefully come to see the truth as well. Farewell Janick!

How low he’ll ever sink he will never be on your level. Negative creep commenting on KZbin on things that doesn’t concern you
