For Alien day, we decided to put out a top 10 list of Kenner Aliens figures in our collection. This list comprises of only the Xenomorphs in our collection and the figures only in our collection (sorry leader alien/ king alien). Please enjoy.

The Scorpion Alien was epic! It had a facehugger, a comic book and it "exploted" when you push a button!

Agreed. The Scorpion Alien is one of the best in terms of look and play value. It was also the First Aliens figure that I bought. I bought it specifically because at the time it was the one that looked closest to the original H.R. Giger design for the 1st movie. I never regretted it.

Definitely enjoyed the gorilla and scorpion figures since they looked the most like classic xenomorphs. Crab and snake alien were very cool though too, since they were so unique. Nothing beats the alien queen playset though.

I found a Queen at a trift store in tangled in tons of other random toys. When I really looked at it. I then started to in-raval it to found a queen. You don't know the in sight I knew when my friends had no idea what I was showing them. This was 2005.

I recently found the queen, power loader, bull alien, queen facehugger and Hicks - all with accessories (sans power loader missile) in my folks' garage. Played with em A LOT back in the day. Stray facehuggers everywhere! Wish I'd had the Scorpion cos it looked most like the 'real' thing. Good retrospective, guys. Never grow up, and Merry Christmas!

I've always loved the Aliens line, but is there a reason that it took Kenner 6 years to make a toy line for the film? I saw Aliens in the theater when I was 13 and would have totally loved these toys if they had been released in 1986 or '87; but by the time the toys came out, I had already graduated high school, gone through Army basic training and was at my first duty station, in Germany. Fortunately, the toys were cool enough that nobody really gave me any crap for having them on display in my barracks room. I have to say that the Scorpion Alien was always my favorite; but only because it was the closest thing to a standard alien warrior from the movie that was available at the time.

They were considered too scary. They were supposed to release a line in '79/'80 but only ended up releasing one 18" figure which eventually got pulled since they were indeed too scary.

They were going to make a cartoon but decided not to at last minute they made a lot of things for cartoon that never got made

As far as I know, the rhino doesn't come with a Facehugger, I think one of the Marines came with an orangish one, and the scorpion aliens is rusty brown, but rhino, no. Oh, and the bull actually does come with a red one. Also the snakes are the kaybee toys repaint (gold) and the regular release (copper) but I'm sure you know all this 4 years later. My fave, for sure the killer crab!

Ohhhhh how I used to make my own versions of the Alien Movie as a kid with these toys.... used to go beyond and do "gore" effects with play dough and paint.... thankfully it was vinyl based craft paint, it could be easily peeled off...

awesome top 10 . Kenner did re-issue a few as repaints hence the two different Snakes there is also a repainted gorilla alien with purple and black ,panther was repainted three times and called night cougar that black one you have is the repainted but there was a more metalic silver one done as part of the Kaybee marines vs aliens 2packs

Actually all the first gen xenomorphs other than the queen came with face huggers colored to which it came with. The mantis (2nd run gorilla basically) had one as well.

The two variations of the snake is just a KB toys reissue in 1996. The darker one is the original. But the KB toys reissues feel way more solid than the orignals.

So strange what different people wanted out of their toys. I disliked all the ones that didn't look like the aliens in the movie. Scorpion Alien and the alien from the Alien vs. Predator two-pack were my favorites. The panther alien and gorilla were close enough as well, I never cared for the blister card queen. It looked too thick and clunky, but it was the only queen I had. Also, the Bull Alien definitely came with a bright red facehugger at least in one run of figures, because I definitely had one. Still, I never got why toy manufacturers made figures that were so wildly different than the movies, when all I wanted as a kid were the ones that looked as much like the movie as possible. Drake and Hicks were pretty good, but I'd much rather have had Hicks with a pulse rifle over a rocket launcher and Drake with a less-goofy-looking M56.

About the Scorpion Alien, does anybody know how to activate the explosion gimmick? I've pushed the button where it is suppose to trigger the explosion but it won't work. Do I need to "fix" it in any way?

The spring in it might be broken (which happens with older figures). I don't have one personally anymore so I can't look over it, but that would be my guess.
