The first time Hasbro made Transformers construction sets was back in 2003 when they launched the infamous Built To Rule line during the tail end of the Armada line and the humble begging of the Energon line.

I loved the Mario Knex toys, they were the perfect minifigure-scale toys back in the day. I wish LEGO would release true mini figures of them someday

I still have my old K’NEX Sesame Street figures, and while they may be a little creepy they hold a special place in my heart! i’m still hoping for another Lego Sesame Street set!

Thing about mega, is it had a logo change recently, so that purple logo does mean it’s new, so now instead of “mega bloks” or “mega construx” it’s just Mega

The new Mega Bloks Disney sets is very fascinating. Perhaps Disney is handing rights for different systems of building back and forth? Like maybe one company had playschool building toy rights specifically.

Great video, as always. To clear some stuff up with the Cars Megablox, The "World of Cars" branding was used on merchandise specifically in 2008. It was done to tie in with the World of Cars online mmo and a book called 'the world of cars.' 2008 WOC items all had a shot of radiator springs as the background, like most of the Mega Bloks sets have. However, other Megabloks sets have the 'supercharged' logo, which was used on merchandise in 2007. In 2009, the World of Cars branding packaging was ditched, replaced with a new line called 'race-o-rama,' to tie in with a video game that came out that year. Race-o-rama products used a background image of the Piston Cup instead. So, the Megabloks line seemed to last from the 2007 Supercharged line to the 2008 World of Cars series. I can testify to this because I used to have a ton of the sets as a kid.....I can't say anything for that cars 3 set though lol

I feel like Mega is a good competitor, commonly taking IPs that Lego wouldn’t do, but, yeah, basically every other building set company is just cheap knock offs at this point

ayo get perspecitve ok sorry but you don't need to hate them. These are great with Kreo, Mega, Cobi and BlueBrixx just being a few of them. The quality is up there with Lego and well these are just companies doing their thing... It's like criticising Porsche for making cars because Mercedes did it before them

It’d be interesting to see how they look and how well they sell though. Because the original book is in public domain, not Disneys. So any toys would have to be of a black and white, completely naked Pooh from the book, or their own design

Oh, Sesame Street sets are wayyyy older than 2008. They started in the 70's with the (I think defunct) brand American Bricks. They had sets made from combining bricks and cardboard pieces.

I've been working in a toy store in México for almost 5 months now. We have those Disney Mega Bloks sets on shelves, some even still being restocked; the cars and moana sets arrived during the last month or so. When they arrived, I didn't really think much of it. Turns out, Disney licenses their IPs to a lot of toy companies. On shelves we got pixar toys from like 3 different manufacturers. They are mostly split between Hasbro and Mattel, which mega is a subsidiary from. I got this from my first month working there, which is I guess why I didn't really think much of it when I saw the mega bloks sets. I guess since they're building toys it could enter a completely different argument, however, I doubt Lego is willing to lose all licensing from the house of Mouse-opoly over this. The buzz lightyear sets are still being restock tho, I think those are the only ones in direct conflict with a lego line in shelves right now.

BRUH I REMEMBERED I HAD THESE MEGA BLOCKS CARS sets as a kid!! 5:49 I think I remember seeing a Lightning McQueen in the same as this King build in a catalog when I was really really young as I remember it also coming with a second top half. Only set I remember owning was a lightning McQueen that came with a piston cup and other blocks to make a build for it.

NASCAR while not a Lego theme , mega blocks made a couple of sets back in 2000. And Knex had the theme in the early 2010s

funny enough I remember a lot of these themes including k'nex Mario and kreo stuff. I still have a few k'nex angry birds, plants vs zombies, and mario stuff around me room, even a cat mario laying out on my lego table. I still have a kreo Optimus prime from a promotional catalogue sitting on my dresser (even though one of his hands is broken) and I did own a gas station from cityvile invasion! fond memories!

If anything I prefer the course building functionality in Lego super Mario because I adore how well a half game and half lego hybrid works, not only is it and buildable set but it's a level to run through to get to the goal just like in the games. It's faithful to the series, it's mechanics work well to adapt iconic things from the Super Mario series into Lego that simply won't have been possible if it was just a standard minifigure set such as for example the mechanic of the ? Block in the starter sets. I understand why people wanted minifigure Super Mario branded sets but I much prefer the route lego is taking with this series and how well this new experimental technology works to help adapt gameplay feel with recognizable characters and locations.

I remember one Christmas when my aunt got me the Kreo Transformers sideswipe, and I wasted a solid hour of my life getting halfway through the car build, only for it to completely collapse due to the pressure of me trying to fix the pieces together. On top of Blox (dollar store version of Lego here in the UK), Kreo has to be the worst lego ripoff brand ever.
