I first knew Martin Freeman through The Hobbit trilogy, and I'm not surprised that he was the first choice by the director to play Bilbo Baggins, his performance was one of the few things that saved the trilogy tbh. Watched him in Sherlock too and loved his chemistry with Benedict Cumberbatch.

I agree with this list, though I would have rated Nativity above the roles I won't be seeing. It's actually clean! Thank you, Martin. I enjoyed the Hobbit only thanks to his performance as Bilbo. I don't think it should have been stretched to 3 films as it was. Sherlock, I began watching for Cumberbatch. That's when I realized rather quickly that I enjoy Martin Freeman even more. I didn't even finish the first Hobbit film, until I decided to watch as many Freeman performances as I can stomach. Sadly, he is willing to do the most disturbing roles as well as endearing ones.

Something to add to the list .... Recently he did another brilliant turn in a movie “Cargo”. It really demonstrated his range.... get past the first 10 mins as it is not what you might initially think. It is a study in acting and pacing.

I love Freeman, but I can't take him seriously with the American accent. It comes off as unbalanced, jumping between southern and New York. At least he did a better one in the MCU.

i saw civil war first so i was like yeah hes fine but when i watched fargo i was like yeah hes good but doesnt always nail the accent but to be fair that Minnesotan type accent is probably harder than the kinda generic one he does in the mcu

I totally agree. It's not because Sherlock S5 is hard to make, its becuase the fans are tired of how the directors of Sherlock are ummmm beating the dead horse(?im asian idont speak english). For example sherlock season 4 was just crap, the only thing weve seen was plot twists after plot twists, and given the fact that theyve killed Dr.Watson's wife, and made sherlock like a love-sick angsty johnlock fanfic character, there is literally no way to progress the drama plot.
