The Illuminati's chapter about the Beyonder was very ambiguos, making this origins uncertain from the beginning. It was probably all a mindgame orchestated by the Beyonder itself, trying to understand humans better.

Retcons are necessary these days in comics. Nothing can be permanent if you want to preserve the essence of a character. As long as there is a good narrative to the retcon, i can enjoy what happens before, and after. Retcons have become part of the story.

I hate that plot about Wolverine having bone claws, one of the worst retcons

The bone claw thing was horrible. The Weapon X project giving him adamantium claws made a much better story.

@@DRob70 Originally, Wolverines claws were part of his gloves. Having claws inside of his body was itself a retcon. Even his healing factor was not one of his original powers when he debuted in Incredible Hulk, and Claremont didn't add it until maybe a year into his run on ANAD X-Men. Wolverine also had a full adamantium skeleton, as in each bone in his body was removed one at a time and replaced with an adamantium bone, and that was later retconned into being an adamantium laced skeleton. Wolverine also had the weakness of his neck being the one set of bones in his body that weren't laced with adamantium, and that...say it with me...was retconned* * Or writers just forgot about it and never mentioned it again. Po-tay-to, Po-tat-o!
