I personally love both the Jurassic Park books and most of the movies equally. But you do you.

Hey man, from one bookish drummer to another, thanks for sharing this! Loved Michael Crichton as a kid and been re-reading Jurassic Park and really enjoying it. Looking forward to your top ten Rush albums next :P (RIP Neil Peart, the original bookish drummer ❤)

Thank you so much! I doubt I’ll make a video on that lol but I do prefer early rush, 70s and early 80s, Fly By Night is excellent, Moving Pictures, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, 2112, Signals, A Farewell to Kings, Caress of Steel

Cool video, nice to see a non-ordinary Crichton ranking. I've been on the fence on whether or not Dragon Teeth is something to spend time on since it was published after his death. Based on your video, seems it might be worth checking out

Yes!!! Dragon Teeth was surprisingly great!

Excellent video! You've convinced me I need to read more Michael Crichton books. I think I've been hesitant because I didn't like Jurassic Park, the first movie. I was actually a little relieved to see the book wasn't so high on your list. 😅

Thank you! He definitely has better books IMO. Great thing is that his books are very diverse, so you can kind of pick and choose which topic/setting sounds more intriguing to you.

Fun. I came after watching the movie 'Sphere' for the 50th time. Not admired by sci-fi film lovers who can't appreciate the psychological implications Crichton makes. Just picked up the book. Glad to see it's a fave. Thanks. Go Hawks!!

It isn't the type of book I normally draw too, but since I'm really branching out with some of my reading I started listening to the Audio - Dragon Teeth. Almost finished. WOW that is so interesting and good. I like the fiction story to go along with real life events. Thanks for the push.

@@BookishDrummer When I was younger, I was addicted to True Crime, but now that I'm older I'm not that interested in the real stuff lol. I used to love Dean Koontz. I've read Amy Tan's books when I was younger plus I was addicted to V.C Andrews if that gives an idea of my past interests. In some ways I've been a mixed reader, but mostly mystery, suspense, and horror I guess if I had to sum it up.

@@marypoulin5631 I read sooooo many Dean Koontz books lol They don’t hold up to well, so I don’t read too much of him anymore.

I have read a few Michael Crichton books (in the order I liked them - favourite first) The Andromeda Strain Sphere Prey Jurassic Park Dragon’s Teeth I will probably read one more by him this year, probably either ‘Congo’ or ‘Micro’ as I picked both of them up cheaply. BTW I read ‘Andromeda Evolution’ which I thought started slowly but picked up in the second half. Overall 3.5/5
@BookishDrummer3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great list! I liked Congo, very interesting premise. Micro has a really cool premise as well, although I don’t think it’s executed very well. Micro was released after Crichton’s death, and large chunks of it had to be written and edited by someone else.

Good Video. Did you read State of Fear By Michael Crichton? and if you did what was your opinion?
@BookishDrummer2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I haven’t read it, I’m not terribly interested in it because Crichton was weirdly a climate change denier, and part of that book centers around it. I’ve heard good things about it, but I’m unsure if I actually want to read it or not

Have you read the John Lange Easy Go? I thought it was a lot of fun, felt like Michael Crichton's Indiana Jones.

Maybe, I’m not sure. The only one I remember liking was Binary

Without getting too personal, I found out that even though I loved learning about it, i did not want to surround myself with it and bring it into my everyday life.
