Great comparison. The choice was great... I use Lewitt mics are I absolutely adore them. If they weren't at the market I would buy sE T1. And I also appreciate what you said about these mics: it basically doesn't matter if VO actor uses NT1 or U87.

Id be curious about a breakdown on shotgun mics - like you say everyone emulates the 416, so a "why is the 416 king? Why do others fall short? Wired vs XLR? Comica vs AT vs Sennheiser?" Etc

I would love If you tested out/reviewed the Rode NTG5, which is what I use and I think it is an alternative to the 416 at half the cost and a flatter sound which can be a benefit to some voices

That's definitely on my list. I used to use it a few years back and didn't like how my voice sounded on it but maybe my ears have changed now? Who knows. I'd love to get it in the fold though!

I just picked up a T2 thanks to your recommendation. However I noticed mine has a black SE label as opposed to yours with a Red one. Does it come in a different color or did I end up grabbing an earlier model? I wonder if there’s a difference.

Lol!! The sparkles!!! Love it James!!! Epic to see the AT875R made the cut! I've been thinking about picking that mic up! Curious what your view is of the Deity S-Mic 2 and 3 and how it compares to the 416 and the AT875R...? Great video! Keep them up please!!

I’ve been using the UA Sphere LX modeling mic and I have to say, it’s pretty great! The TLM 103 the MKH 416 mods are very similar to the originals. I would like to hear your thoughts on modeling microphones.

@@JamesYounger I don’t know if the Slate is capable of doing it but the Sphere lets you edit the mic models, change the polar patters, and adjust the proximity effect all in post. Really versatile tool for the price. It would be cool to see you do a breakdown and review on it if you get the chance! Cheers!

During the entire segment on the AT875R, you said the model name of the mic exactly zero times. Yet you say AT785R several times during the segment on the Azden SGM-3500L. Who writes your scripts?
@JamesYounger3 күн бұрын
So, let me get this straight. I make a video listing out the top 10 mics I recommend at the time, list out the brand and model on the screen for your convenience, list them out in the exact order I speak about them in the description below for your convenience, yet you’re so simple, you can’t get passed the fact that I didn’t outright say the name of the mic even though it was listed on the screen and below? Get a life bud. You look silly.
@rangersmith46523 күн бұрын
@@JamesYounger Sometimes people are listening but not watching. You said the name of every other mic.
@JamesYounger3 күн бұрын
@@rangersmith4652 Look, I created this content for free. I make like $0.001 a month from this video. You pay nothing to watch my content. Yet, you're complaining that I didn't say the name of a mic, even though I went out of my way to list in on screen and in the description. This is when you know we have it REALLY REALLY good. The day people have to work really hard to find shit to complain about. You come at me with a shitty comment that includes "Who writes your scripts?" You're lucky I'm taking it easy on you. Now, go consume more free content and find way to complain about it.

@@JamesYounger KZbin content is not free. I pay a fee to avoid random ads, yet I still have to endure embedded ads. You can be as hard on me as you like. A lot of people who have though very highly of themselves have done that, and I'm still standing. I very much appreciate the effort you make in your videos, and I have found them quite useful in making a mic purchase decision. Due in no small part to your review, I will probably end up with the mic whose omitted name spawned this thread. And I'll save the expense of building a booth. In this business, everyone has growing room, right? As a former university professor in both composition and public speaking, I decided to alert you to what I perceived as a shortcoming in this part of the presentation. I was listening closely but was not in sight of my monitor. I liked what I was hearing about a mic that was only called "this mic," and I waited to hear its name. But no. I had to come back to my desk, wake my display, and click into the previous section to see what mic it was. A minor inconvenience, a first-world problem to be sure. But it mattered to me, a member of your audience. My method of making this point was abrupt, but it worked; the comment got your attention. No, you're not one of students, but maybe you learned something anyway.

A couple of mics to put on your radar, one VO pro to another. First, the United Studio Technologies Twin87, an 87ai style mic that delivers. I use it when I want to deliver my "NPR" voice 😊 Is it "as good"? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not one of my clients has complained. For the second, Earthworks' ETHOS. I picked it up primarily for my own livestreaming and podcast activities, but that small diaphragm mic has become my promo workhorse. Who knew? Plus, it DOES look sharp on camera 😁
