I am judging her character. The fact is, in the anime, Mikasa is very strong, the strongest of the academy graduates. She has a stoic view of life, which in my opinion is pretty rad. I love the philosophy that she has her mind wrapped around. Mikasa seems to have god mod skills, in the anime, that is how it is. To say that she 'sucks' in general is.... not at all a good argument... Well, whether she is badass or not is up to each individual, it's pointless to argue with that.

Dude, nice choice for No.1! Though Claymore is so badass, that you could easily have made the entire list just from characters from it. I personally would have included Erza from Fairy Tail, Moka (the silver haired one) from Rosario + Vampire, and Angel from Angel Beats. Balalaika from Black Lagoon should have made it to the list. What separates her from the rest of the _Badass Women: The Anime_ a.k.a. _Black Lagoon_ women is that she's not trigger-happy; she never loses her calm, she's actually calculating, a great strategist, and she has that extremely intimidating vibe that just commands total respect (even if you don't want to). She's crazy, but unlike the others, she's _intelligent_ crazy. Everyone fears her in Roanapur. Her mere presence will make you sh*t your pants. Heck, I even love Teresa from Claymore and Cornelia from Code Geass, but Balalaika, man... she's something else.
