I worked at an Urban Outfitters in 2015ish and we had to remove/destroy tops we were selling with "Viva La Paris" on it. However, it was written in a red water color font that looked a little too.... bloody. It was just after the Paris Concert killings.

Mom worked in a mall department store in the late 1960's/ early 1970's, so we always got the best toys for birthday and Christmas presents. I remember that we had several Gilbert science sets, which came in metal boxes. We never had the "Atomic fusion" set (which would have been cool). but I remember a Gilbert microscope kit that came with a bunch of items that you could view under said microscope. One of the items was a chunk of uranium ore, under the microscope you could legit see tiny white sparks shooting off of the chunk of rock. Probably more dangerous was when dad gave my brother, sister and I each a few ounces of mercury that he had harvested from old discarded mercury switches from his work. We would play with the mercury, pour it from hand to hand.

My dad used to sell to shops in English seaside towns and some of the shirts that his customers sold, where really rude and offensive. My dad didn't sell the shirts, it was what they already had. When I used to work with him id just spend ages chuckling away at them. Some really where quite bad. It was stuff like "Mary wasn't a virgin, if you count anal" and there'd be a picture of her doing a naughty pose. Or have a picture of a woman sitting on Pinocchios nose and asking him to lie 😂 Worst was what was on some underwear, which I'm not going to go into, because of how rude and bad some where. English seaside towns are quite well known for selling naughty novelty gifts, but every so often some shops get a bit carried away. When Jimmy Saville got exposed, alot where selling fancy dress outfits of him. It was a tracksuit, wig, sunglasses and cigar. It was really offensive, but same time popular.

I actually didn't realize that the first Harry Potter story had 2 slightly different names, depending on where it was released. For us Americans and those in India, it was the Sorcerer's Stone. Everyone else got the Philosopher's Stone. Interesting why that was.

If not enough people are buying a product, and its getting bad reviews the company making it will stop selling it. Remember, corporations stop production if they're not making enough money, regardless if the reviews are positive or not. That's why there's a lot of nostalgic products are gone. Also I don't know too many sane black people that are going to willingly wear prison style chains around the ankles. You could be one of the exceptions, or you could be white.

I hate Urban Outfitters. Not because of inappropriate items, but because of STOLEN items. Stores like them, Forever 21, and H&M are NOTORIOUS among independent artists because they quite literally make a habit of stealing designs from graphic artists and jewelry makers for their products, all while counting on the artist not having the means to take legal action against them. And even when the artist _does_ take legal action, it's often cheaper for them to just pay damages rather than properly license the work in the first place. When a company has an entire division of their legal department solely devoted to handling copyright/intellectual property theft, you know they're scummy. As an illustrator/designer/colorist myself, I refuse to shop at any of those stores on principle and ask everyone I know not to as well.
