Phyrexian Fleshgorger's price is all in that Ward ability and the versatility. 1/3 of your life is a seriously steep price that your opponent will have to pay or else risk a 14 life swing in a single attack, which will put them way behind. Every turn that it's out is a turn where your opponent is losing, even at its prototype cost. It's in black, so let's be real; Nobody is hardcasting this thing unless the board stalls. 7/5 Menace for 7 mana is on rate for black, but you don't usually see Lifelink on a black creature that size. Having a card that is a big creature in black that has evasion AND upside AND good protection without having to bend over backwards to sate it is a novelty, and the prototyping takes the card from really good to great.

Not only that but imagine fleshgorger in golgari decks with all our one mana pump spells that can be used in response to removal and increase the life that must be paid it essentially turns pump spells into counter spells

Yes, you definitely are missing the strength of Mishra, Claimed By Gix before it melds. Attacking in an Aggro sacrifice deck will add insult to injury.

I'm putting him in my Isshin tokens deck as a finisher. Doubling his attack trigger with haste will completely end a game out of nowhere

I am calling it now. We will see Awaken the Woods reprinted in the Lord of the Rings crossover stuff somewhere and with new art featuring Treebeard leading the Ents and throwing boulders at Isengard. If not I will be big sad.

Thing about mishra is that it’s whenever you attack meaning you don’t have to attack with mishra for the trigger. As well as Adeline and tokens being powerful right now in standard because of meathooks ban. He is most likely gonna be splashed into a token decks

Similar guy in vampires was strong and that one only counted attacking vampires. This guy's ability is good, no doubt about it. However, its likely only a standard card. So I'd agree that it will drop in price.

@@michaedove3562 Don't Forget about commander. Simply being the flashiest Mishra means there'd be a good degree of demand for it, but thanks to being in black odds of executing a meld aren't bad. It's a tad expensive for an aggro deck, but being able to drain ALL of your opponents with every swing is genuinely great.

Tron won’t need it. It can however be blinked with ephemerate and get it’s default stats so maybe it’ll be seen in some sort of Orzhov blink shell.

Gix isnt symmetrical. It says "one of YOUR opponents". As in, in two-player game your opponent's creatures doing damage to you does not trigger the ability. Its just worded this way to make it extra fun in group games where you incentivize your opponents to bash each other.

What I meant by symmetrical was “the effect applies to everyone in the game, not that the benefit was equal.” I tried to shorten up the video a bit and some things like this got cut down.

as for fleshgorger, it could work well for Tron decks i think not sure what is the current meta in Modern gameplay. I could be wrong too not sure.

Fleshgorger is nuts. It's got evasion with that menace, lifelink to your advantage and they made it hard to kill with that painful ward. With a 4 cost it would've been good to average but with 3 it's OP. Just an absolute wrecker of a card

Does Mishra Lost to Phyrexia triggers twice? because it enters the battlefield (1st trigger) and tapped and attacking (2nd) trigger?

won 2 games with Phyrexian Fleshgorger with Legacy Reanimator. It's pretty badass. most of the time it's unblocked and if so it's a 2 for 1. you also get 1/3 of your life back, or 7 cards with Griselbrand in play. It's ward ability makes it that most of the time, it won't be targetted by the opponent. Yeah, it's pretty good.

One thing you’re missing with misheard and Urza is that the commander rules committee ruled that you can play the card the meld with as partners so that way you never have to fish to get your giant commander which is inflating the price because it makes them more consistent and cooler.

Awaken the Woods doesn't interact with Tiller Engine. Engine only triggers when a land enters tapped under your control, the land tokens from Awaken the Woods enter untapped.
