Mike Bloomfields old Tele. He played with Dylan, the Paul Butterfield blues band and many more. Great stuff!
@larrygeetar93095 жыл бұрын
I:m with you. Mike Bloomfield:s 1963 Tele was played on some of the most famous records of all time and he was a pioneer in modern electric blues. Like Page, he was known for his Les Paul playing but that was after the first Butterfield album, three albums with Dylan and some of the most recognizable guitar licks of all time - think Like A Rolling Stone, Tombstone Blues, Maggie:s Farm and Born In Chicago, Shake Your Money Maker and Blues With A Feeling from Butterfield. And Luther Perkins Tele on all those Johnny Cash records, too. Well done on the vid, really well done.

As I said on the last vid, I'm sure Tom Morello's "Sendero Luminoso" Tele that's been his main drop-D axe for his whole career would've made a better choice than John 5's Lava Lamp. Roy Nichols blackguard Tele with Merle Haggard. 4. Clarence Whites b bender beast used with the Byrds and Kentucky Colonels. Other early adopters are Johnny Guitar Watson and the chaps who played with Little Richard and Fats Domino, particularly Walter "papoose" Nelson. You must also throw in Paul Burlison with the Johnny Burnett trio, who inspired both Page and Beck. And where's Beck's most iconic Esquire in the world. That's my lot. Great post

Bloomfield's and Syd Barrett's (literally the reason for Jimmy Page's first incarnation of _his own_ iconic Tele) *definitely* should have been on here in place of John 5 and Rossi (and pretty high up too). Merle Haggard, Beck's Esquire, Waylon Jennings, Danny Gatton, Andy Summers, Gilmour's "workmate"... I played bass with Delaney Bramlett from around 1987 to 1998. The George Harrison rosewood Tele was always around at Delaney's studio, so I've played it many times. To tell the truth, it wasn't really a great guitar. It was very heavy and sounded very thin. People coming to the studio would pick it up and play it. Oohing and ahhing. But then they'd put it down. Nobody really liked playing it. One day Delaney picked up my Music Man Sting Ray, and was playing it. I had taken the finish off of the neck, because I like the feel of raw maple. Well Delaney liked it too, so he handed me the rosewood Tele, and said to do that to it. Believe me. I tried to talk him out of it, but he insisted. So the next day found me on my front porch, sanding the finish off of the neck of George Harrison's rosewood, "Rooftop Tele." A little correction to the video. Delaney sold the guitar at auction. Ed Begley Jr. Was the winning bidder at $375,000. It was Ed who returned the guitar to the Harrison family. I heard that it had been refinished, and brought up to snuff. I'm very pleased that it found it's way back to George's family.

Yeah, ummm, I don:t know about the rosewood Tele. They were not really good guitars, just flashy and custom made for George. Which makes it ok, especially since he used it on the rooftop. But I had one of the first production models in 1970 and I got rid of it. Too heavy for a Tele and not a great sound, either. Nice looking, thats it.
