I wonder if he can make a team that doesn't use that bird? If it is availible in a game it is the pick for the flying type for the best of team vids, which is stupid. there are better flying types. Heck I wanted to play the game using mons I never won with, and guess what Starly was on my team, so I had to look for a different flying type and he basically said that Crobat was overrated. Starly is overrated as he can't stop talking about it.

Saying Houndoom is overrated when over 50% of people's playthroughs won't involve them having an Infernape feels a little hypocritical especially when in the Empoleon team video, Houndoom is prominently featured. Houndoom also has Snarl which is one of the few consistent ways to Debuff Special Attack. Just because Infernape is better doesn't mean Houndoom isn't really great for a Sinnoh playthrough.

My opinions would be: Golduck (completely overshadowed by Empoleon, Floatzel, Gyarados, or even Bibarel and Quagsire) Alakazam (odd to see it here, but I didn't see a lot of teams having it) Bug types (Kricketune, Beautifly/Dustox, Wormadam/Mothim, Vespiquen... Geez, even Heracross is not used that much) Mismagius Chatot (overshadowed by basically every other Flying type in the game) Hard to catch mons (Spiritomb, Milotic, Snorlax) Late-game Water types (Lumineon and Octillery are obvious, but I count here too Tentacruel, Azumarill, and Pelipper)

2 things, Houndoom can use both physical and special coverage just fine for most of Sinnoh. Secondly, Togepi is found in the grand underground. So 2 of your big points are sort of null.

Totally agree. You can catch gible at lvl 46 in the grand underground after the 7th gym. it will evolve into gargchop in two levels, just in time for the electric gym. Not sure who these people are that are catching pokemon in the overworld in this game. Grand underground OP

The point is that if you catch it after the 7th gym you’ll have less use of it during your playthrough, that’s something you can’t disagree on. I love to use a garchomp but waiting for pokemon home to put it in my team from the get go. For now I caught a shellos at the valley windworks and went with gastrodon.

Hard disagree on the fact that it is “a pain” to get a garchomp in runs. I caught my Gible after the 7th gym at level 46, used two rare candies that I saved up, and evolved him right away

I caught a level 15 gible after the 7th gym and trained him and maxed out speed and attack Evs by battling the rich kids outside of the mansion over and over with the amulet coin and going to veilstone. It wasn’t that hard or time consuming

Have to disagree with lucario, togekiss and my boy chomp. Lucario is worth it as the 2nd best fighting type outside infernape just because infernapes superior type machup and slighty higher stats. Togekiss outclasses clefable in every conceivable way. Just a bit annoying to obtain. And garchomp vastly outclasses gastrodon, let alone any other ground type in the game. Rhyperior comes the closest, but he is hampered by slow speed. I feel like these three should be the first ones mentioned on this list just because the only reasons not to use them is potential inconvience, or if the player simply doesnt want to use them. They have decent move pools, learn good tms, and are well worth the investment. Also gabites stats are similar too gastrodon, only being 50 points off, and is completely servicable until lvl 48

Honchkrow is SO strong Catch one with Super Luck, Night Slash and Air Cutter, give it Razor Claw and you have a 100% crit machine The only downside is you have to wait a lot to get a Dusk Stone

Stara toe isn’t even THAT good tho, I mean it is good but there are better options out there. The main reason for this is because the best flying type moves it learns are aerial ace which only has a base 60 damage and brave bird which does recoil damage. It can also use fly but that’s a 2 turn move, which while it can be good for avoiding attacks, gives the opponent a chance to switch and counter. It’s best quality is that it learns close combat but doesn’t get stab on it unlike other options such as infernape or machamp. In addition, it is also weak to ice, one of the moves close combat is super effective against, tho the close combat points are probably just nitpicking.

Gonna disagree with Honchkrow. It’s fairly strong if you play to its strengths & are absolutely tired of using Staraptor in every playthrough. Trainers like Maylene, Gardenia, Lucian, Aaron, & Fantina; Honhkrow (and Murkrow) solos pretty easily. Also, don’t undervalue the usefulness of Sucker Punch or the fact you only need Drill Peck or Brave Bird for decent Flying Stab

Houndoom allows you to use a starter other than Chimchar, and you should never use a Sinnoh starter other than Chimchar, therefore Houndoom is overrated. Pretty sure that was his real logic, anyway.

My very first run on BDSP included Honchkrow and Luxray. And they shredded the Elite 4 and Cynthia in my first try. So despite the facts thrown about them, I don't think they are that overrated. Also, since you told us not to use Togekiss and Houndoom, I'll be using them. ☺️

Same, my honchkrow and Luxray came in clutch in the elite 4, and I had a murkrow after the 2nd gym thanks to the underground so I had some good options for people like maylene. I also used lucario, which I picked torterra and had a machoke before i got the lucario, and it was helpful for the elite for against Aaron, Lucian, and Cynthia

But for the most part till you get a better electric type your pretty much stuck with using coverage moves or it. Which is why it shows up in player teams more often. But yes Luxray is more overused than Staraptor, because of ease of use, but there are people that replace it when they get something better. Yet Staraptor has been on every single Sinnoh best of team Mystic has shown which says something about being overused.

earlier today I see a video of someone destroying Cynthia's entire team with a single level 69 Togekiss holding Amulet Coin (Air Slash, Dazzling Gleam, Nasty Plot, Thunder Wave). they basically stunned the Spiritomb, used 3 Nasty Plots and then one shot every pokemon including Milotic and Garchomp and then this video puts it in top 10 overrated.... that's a hard fail x'D

Y'know, Togekiss is a beast, it has amazing stats and one of the best learnsets in the entire game, if you use the move reminder and TMS you can get moves like Aura Sphere, Dazzling Gleam, Air Slash, Psychic, Flamethrower, Tri Attack, Extreme Speed, etc and with that variety, Togekiss can get a good amount of the league with super effective damage (and it is better than Staraptor)

I bred eggs for my new team. Using azumarill houndoom lucario metagross steelix and drifblim. I know alot of those aren't the best, but I never get to use them. Also a no starter playthrough is a lot more fun so far. It's harder, but the regular pokemon on my team feel more special to me than just sitting in the back while my starter one hits everything

You can get catch a Gible in the Grand Underground after you beat Candice. It will be between levels 42-47, so you don’t even need to grind for Garchomp, really. Mine even came with Outrage.

while I understand that Lucario might not be the best option in terms of fighting types in this game, I disagree that it isn't worth having on a team. in my experience, having a fighting type of any kind (or at least a pokemon with a fighting type move) was always essential in how well I did in an in-game playthrough. furthermore, one of the things I like about fighting types is their versatility in their move pools. if a pokemon goes up against Lucario and isn't weak to fighting or steel, Lucario can still be potentially useful given the other type moves it can learn like earthquake or shadow ball. this is further supported by the fact that Lucario is fast and is a mixed attacker so you can't go wrong with it in terms of stab. Toxicroak has poison, fighting, bug, dark, rock, ground and ghost (7) with 70+ BP. Infernape has fire, fighting, ground, rock, bug, ghost, flying, poison, steel and grass (10) with the same. Others like Heracross, Medicham and Machamp are a bit less diverse (5 or 6 types) but still have more coverage and STAB options than they have move slots for. For reference, Lucario has fighting, steel, psychic, ghost, dark, ground, rock, poison and dragon (9), which is two more than Gallade and Toxicroak but one less than Infernape. Lucario is diverse, but I wouldn’t say that it’s the only diverse fighting type.

Most overrated Pokemon in Sinnoh are honestly any Fairy Type Pokemon. You don't need them (Clefable included). You can have great coverage without using any STAB Fairy moves and with plenty of choices for Steel and Poison coverage, you'll be able to take down any of the few Fairies you face.

I've tried Gardevoir and Togekiss now. Gardevoir definitely came in clutch more often, though that was more due to Calm Mind and its psychic typing. I was saying for at least a month before these games came out that fairies wouldn't really be needed due to the huge number of poison and steel type Pokemon and moves in Sinnoh and I'm still not unconvinced that I was wrong. Biggest plus with them is that Spiritomb is easier (both got shredded by Cynthia's Garchomp and I ended up using ice moves like I was back in Gen 4).

I do understand the reasonings of putting Garchomp as number 1 : - Getting a Pokemon at lvl 24 that is probably your only non-evolve pokemon on your party after the sixth gym badge is pretty late in the game - Even if you go out of your way to grind Gible to be on par with your other party members , the next gym been Ice , Gabite is better off seating on the bench - Then it comes the team galactic arc in which Gabite does okay but there are better Pokemons that can do it better at this point of the game - If anything , the only gym Gabite-Garchomp would shine is on the last gym leader - Against the Elite four , yeah for sure Garchomp is going to murder the elite 4 , but thats only if you go out of your way to train it , when you already have a Pokemon team ready to go against them , so pretty much is like an "over-kill" - So pretty much , you're going out of your way to train this dragon Pokemon so your "late game" is "easier" when there are other pokemons that are available sooner and be on par with your entire party - The only way I see Garchomp been not overrated is if Gible is accessible to you after the second gym leader like it was in Platinum.

You can find Gible in the Grand Underground after you beat Candice. They’ll be between levels 42-47 and can even have egg moves (mine had Outrage), so any complaints about grinding aren’t valid.

I honestly agree with Lucario being overrated. God knows how much i love Lucario but having him on your team especially when you face Cynthia and the Elite Four wouldnt help that much. I have him on my team together with Luxray and Infernape and when i battled Cynthia, i was able to beat Togekiss and Milotic with Luxray. You’re not entirely wrong about Lucario and this is exactly why I’ve personally never used one until BDSP. But I’ve found that Lucario has a very special niche of filling a special attacking sweeper that most other fighting types simply cannot fill. Special attacking fighting types are extremely rare and with access to its pseudo signature move Aura Sphere, it outclassed all the others like Infernape by not having to rely on Focus Miss. BDSP gave me a new appreciation for this Pokémon that I didn’t have before. But if you run it as a physical attacker…..yeah you’ve got better options lol

You don't have to use a Garchomp in your playthrough, but it certainly isn't an overrated Pokemon to use. There are ways of expediting the grinding process even if you catch one in Wayward Cave. You can wait to complete Iron Island and use a Gabite to clear it, you could use the Lucky Egg you find in the Grand Underground to passively level it up quick, and you can grind it in the Grand Underground as well. It really isn't that hard to get a Garchomp if you want one and once you have one, the stats speak for themselves. Not overrated by any stretch, but Garchomp is afforded a rather appropriate level of respect as it is a Pokemon who is worth the wait for.

Houndoom being on this list is somewhat bait-and-switch and shows unreliable your videos are. I think you were a bit hyperbolic within your analysis and clearly just needed Pokemon on the list (either this one or past ones). Houndoom is extremely good unless you choose Infernape. And even then, Infernape is better for PHYSICAL fire moves which limits damage potential. It does have the Fighting type which helps with coverage. But that is when you reach the third stage of an evolution while you can get Houndoom early and already evolved. It is a specialist for Special Attack which a lot of really good Pokemon do not utilize in this generation. Also, a lot of this list has been just splitting hairs on minor caveats. This is an entirely subjective, but extremely inconsistent within flowing logic.

I did try to get a Clefable for my team, but I had horrendous luck with getting a Moon Stone, so I gave up and used Togekiss, and it honestly did not perform horribly since it had Aura Sphere to handle Steel types and I had a Torterra to deal with Electric and Poison types. Plus, despite Clefable's coverage and access to Magic Guard, it just does not hit as hard as I'd like given it has an average 85 Special Attack and the fact Life Orb is a post game item, so you don't have that to at least help Clefable hit harder while taking advantage of Magic Guard during the main story. Azumarill, Gardevoir, and Togekiss may not be as coverage heavy as Clefable, but at least they can hit hard and still provide needed coverage.
