Have used County saddles for the last 20 years. 1st dressage saddle was a Stubben... but I love my County's, a bit pricey, but still it fits my SWB perfectly.

I use an old Passier PS Baum dressage saddle. Down close to the horse, gives them wither room, and nothing to fight against because it's not trying to force you into position. Love it to bits and really wish they still made them that way.

I am surprised to have never heard of most of the saddles you mentionned. I have just bought two second hand saddles by prestige at 1/3 the price of a new one. One is black from 2006 the other is brown from 2008 but they are in beautifull condition and fit my horse perfectly. Before that I had a passier but when I changed horses it didn't fit any more

I have a Prestige Top Dressage that I bought 2nd hand. Fits my horses extremely wide withers perfectly.

Good video, but the brands; Fairfax, Loxley, Black Country aren't even known in my country, where Prestige, Passier, Equipe and Globus are popular, but also the really higher end ones like Butterfly and DK. I wish you would make a video on dressage saddles that exist for the grown up rider with short legs. All the dressage saddles I've ridden in are way too long in the flap for me, and there are more like me. The flaps end at my ankle... I'm not too big, but I still need a 17 inch seat, and most pony saddles only come up to 16,5, so I think this would be a great video to make, as there will be lots of short dressage riders out there that would be extremly grateful!

Hello! Which country are you from? As a British company, we deal with most of the Walsall manufacturers which is where the English saddle we know today originated from. Of course there are some popular brands from France, Italy etc like Equipe, Prestige etc like you say. However we don't deal with Passier, Globus.. or some of the other brands people have mentioned. We do have a huge growing customer base in USA, Canada and the rest of the world who are taking on Fairfax etc and the other brands mentioned in the video. I think you will see them rise in popularity over the next few years :D Certainly worth having a look at if you come across one. They also offer short / long flap versions so a short flap model could be just what you are looking for :)

@@thesaddlebank Hello, I'm from Norway, and I must say that the British brands aren't very popular here.... We have a Walsall brand called Windsor, and the jump saddle is amazing for the rider, but the gullet is too narrow for the spine of the majority of horses. I don't have the money for a new saddle, as most brands here cost 30thousand nok ++ Any chance of you doing a video on pony/junior rider dressage saddles that might fit adults? :)

@@JustHorseyMie You problem is not too uncommon, but since saddles are inherently measured for men’s proportions and have over the decades only been marginally adjusted or makers produced only single models specifically tailored to fit other body types your best option is to find one (maybe even second hand, not sure how big your market in Norway would be) that has an option for shorter flaps. Quite a few brands do. I know that a few of my students got dressage saddles by Passier/ Prestige and Stübben fitted with an extra short flap. What type of horse do you have?

@@sandra4equifino52 Hi, I don't have a horse of my own right now, the plan is to buy next year. Which is why this is the perfect time to start researching if I can find any dressage saddles that would fit me, so I know what can fit ME when the time comes. That way I know where to start trying to find a saddle that fits my horse. It seems impossible, the only short flap I know that makes a 17inch seat is Stubben Juventus, and I have heard mixed feedback on that one. I have a budget, I need to get a used saddle and I need to have a minimal cost in any alterations, as I also need a jump saddle.

@@JustHorseyMie Interesting way of going about it:) But why not....The Passier ABS, a versatile saddle, created for the smaller horse, but quite popular with riders of rounder, shorter horses, might be an option to keep in mind, too. The Juventus is a good saddle, a model that has been round for a very long time, I think I rode in one in the ‘80s:) Of course it has changed over time, not sure whether it’s become more adjustable though.

LOVED my County on my previouse horse, but it just didn't suit my boy I ride now. So now ride in an Isabell, got three of them . I use black for dressage, brown for show ring. And a Wintec for my paddock basher. Clearly for English riders. By the brand's.

It would be helpful to add the price range of these saddles - in US dollars and pounds. Helps the beginner to weed out some saddles if their budget doesn’t accommodate the higher prices.

It does is the bottom right hand corner, only in pounds but it does give a view on how much it would cost even in dollars

What is everyone spending on average on your dressage saddles. Seems to be around $5,000 here in Australia.

Wow thats alot! You would get a top quality saddle for that price in UK The Saddle Bank do ship worldwide. With Australia you would have to pay approx £250 shipping plus import fees and possible fumigation costs as Australia is quite strict on bio security.. however it should still enable you to import a great quality saddle! We find a lot of customers from US/Canada and Australia/New Zealand find it cheaper to import from a second hand saddle shop in UK than buy in their respective countries.
