The thing I relate to most in a Pixar film is Bob Parr's mid life crisis. I'm nowhere near old enough to have one, but I think we can all relate to longing for years past when life was a lot simpler ans seemingly more glorious.

What the desire stems from is a happy, stable childhood. I didn’t have that at all, so all I wanted to grow up and be an adult. You couldn’t pay me enough to relive my childhood, as I’m happier now as an adult than I ever was as a kid. I was constantly suicidal starting at age 5 and I just now got to the point where I don’t beg the universe to die every day. I can’t relate to this mentality one bit. I don’t ever want to relive my past, although it’s fascinating to think back at my memories, especially when something that seemed so insignificant at the time changed my life. For example, the first time I felt romantic feelings for someone was when I was 10 years old in 6th grade (yes, I skipped a grade - I’ve never been a fool). The first time I walked into the doors of the school I met someone who I didn’t think twice about at first, but he was part of the collective that included my one friend at the time so I made the effort to remember his name. As the years passed I’d forgotten that moment when he told me his name, but as an adult I realize now that was the beginning of my 20-year long crush on the guy. I’m a simp, sure, but I have standards and he lives up to them whereas literally no one else does - and no, they’re not impossibly high; people don’t live up to what their potential could be and it’s a shame so many people are waste. I was never a “simple” child, as even at three years old I’d play with my toys and enacted actual stories I invented. And no, not the soap opera of Barbies or rescuing a damsel in distress - think Lord of the Rings before the Peter Jackson movies were made; that’s how complex my brain was as a young child aged 4 years. Yeah, I can’t relate to that mentality; I’ve always had a complex brain, which has steadily gotten more complex with time. So not everyone understands my way of thinking and I think that’s sad. If more people were like me we could change the world. As it is, reality is for those who lack imagination, and I’d rather have my imagination, thank you.

10:38 Coco is DEFINITELY relatable, regardless of whether or not you’re of Hispanic origin. A few months after the film was released, my beloved grandmother, whom I was extremely close with passed away, and for the longest time I refused to watch the film because I remember hearing the song “Remember Me” being performed at the 2018 Oscars and I had to leave the room within moments and I just couldn’t bring myself to watch it. But after a coworker sang the film’s praises, I decided to “buck it up” and watch it during late summer 2022 and I started “beating myself up” over not watching it earlier. Yes, I did cry during the song but not as hard as I thought I would. And the theme of the film, honoring deceased family by honoring their legacy through the simplest things is pretty much what every culture does and isn’t limited to just one and it’s extremely relatable!

For me I have two relatable moments. Married Life from Up It’s almost like watching the life of my Aunt and Uncle down to the point where they couldn’t have kids, eventually when my Uncle passed my Aunt became very much like Carl did in the beginning, then my little brother came along and she really did seem to lift her spirits. Two Finding Nemo I am very overprotective of my brother but I know he is growing up and I’m starting to lessen up but still want to protect him. The ending to this movie is like when I left for another Job across the country and he ran up to me holding me saying ‘I love you (my name)’ I will never forget that moment.

I made the "mistake" of watching Up about a month after losing my husband of 30 years. No idea what it was about going in, I just figured an animated film would help lift my mood..... I had to pause the DVD for half an hour after the montage while I had a major crying/screaming jag. Eventually I calmed down enough to watch the rest, and really loved it, but even a decade later I am not ready to watch it again. Since we never had kids, therefore no grandkids, I haven't seen most of the rest. Red was cute and relatable, Inside/Out was charming, and Coco is on my watch list.

Another relatable thing about Coco is dealing with a loved one with dementia. Miguel has trouble dealing with his Mama Coco having it the same way I have trouble dealing with my grandpa, who also has dementia. Miguel has to keep reminding her about important things in life and when he plays Remember Me for her, she remembers her dad playing the song when she was little. It’s very sweet

I recently watched Toy Story again, but this time as an 18 year old, just finished junior year and about to get ready for college or whatever path I choose after graduation. It definitely hurt a lot more this time and I cried, not being able to spend hours in my room playing with horses or creating my dream farm with all the animals anymore. I definitely agree that it should have ended with 3 movies and some side stories being made. Probably a good recommendation for all high school students to watch it before graduation, because that day will come and there will be no turning back after.

Oh yeah, a lot of these really defined my life: Nemo: Sheltered + having a special need (though mine's autism) "SQUIRREL": Wasn't one of the picks, but also relateable because easily distracted. Dory: Memory loss, but mine's not like that; I just have fly memory. I'll think something then forget 5 seconds later - really irritating when it's something I needed to do. xD But also mental condition, so it partially counts. Turning Red: Yep. Girl things. Minus the more embarassing parts in school. And being obsessed with boys (I like anime chars and such, but don't care to have a relationship with anyone). Losing someone: Basically...Three. Years. In. A. Row. Rotten luck I had...(mom, grandad, grandma in that order; mom was on one side of the family, grandad and grandma were from my dad's side) Not knowing how to handle children: Yeah. I don't even care for being around young kids...Too loud and I feel like I'd be in a yelling match against them. :P And no, I would not give them MY electronics for entertainment purposes. Or any in that manner...Especially if they're only 2 or 3. Get a Leap Frog thing or something made for them, not a tablet! "Growing Up": What's that? I'm a Toys R Us kid!! ;) (but I do behave maturely when needed, such as funerals and serious things) Being a good sport: Oh man...What a lesson...Yeah, that was a rough one when it got to competitions because I can be a sore loser. But I've gotten over it now. I take losses with humility, especially since the "contest" I usually take part in involves advertising and you can advertise in a lot of places onsite, LOL. I'm not a physical athelete so don't compete in real life stuff. :P Core memories: Yep. I'll leave it at that because my post is too long as it is. And the list goes on, but anywho...I just tried to use what was viewed here.

Bob Parr's "not strong enough" breakdown. Be huge, be strong, be the hero everyone expects of you, but you still have a heart that breaks like anyone else's. "I can't lose you again...I'm not strong enough." In his grief while he believed his family had been killed when the plane was shot down, Bob's soul died a little, and a grim indifference descended on him when he believed he didn't have anything left worth living for. And then when he had his family back, he had to admit to the one person he couldn't hide anything from that she, herself was his greatest weakness.

The scene where Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) destroys his car in the driveway in front of a neighbor's kid after a particularly drone-like day is a voyeuristically cathartic moment for men... and funny as the Dickens... KDM

I hadn’t watched Toy Story 3 in a long time and then about a year and half ago maybe more anyway…Watching it as a 17 year old who will graduate in a couple of years and thinking about all of the big moneys in my life, all the toys I’ve owned over the years and what they’ve meant to me…I was sobbing. And I was watching it wit h a little kid who was barely paying attention. He was on the floor playing meanwhile I was sitting on the couch with tears streaming down my face having an emotional breakdown

We have a culture that stresses on some degree of obligation to stay close to your family and take care of your parents. Although my mom wasn't as intense as May Lin, she did told me exactly "Don't hold back for anyone" and go live the life I want. She's like we got everything planned out already, so just go find your own life paths. Of course I still got to perform some parts of the "taking care of parents" duty, financially or physically, but it gives me more confidence and freedom to really venture out and explore life away from home

The most relatable for me are: the memories becoming blues in Inside Out, well sometimes we have nostalgia of many specials moments in our life, also Dealing with lossing and grief in Coco and Growing up in Toy Story 3 :"

Turning Red was hated by incels because it depicts teenage girls as they are in real life and not like in anime

How come the ending scene in Inside Out when Riley first met Jordan isn’t here? It was hilarious because his emotions were freaking out because they couldn’t process talking to a girl.

On Mr. Incredibles' defense on embarrassing Violet it wasn't as bad as Mei's Mom embarrassing her at that supermarket. Lol Heck, Violet would appreciate her Dad more if she actually knew about what Mei went through. Mei would want to switch sides with Violet to have her embarrassing moment at the restaurant. Lol Then again she wouldn't want Violet to have an overly protective and overly embarrassing Mom either. Lol

Technically Violet embarrassed herself and she would know that none of this would ever happened if she didn't took off her mask in public
