I am an funeral assistant in Brazil, and a worked a lot in Shot Victims Morgues. These "weak" calibers almost every time perforated at least two vital organs of the victims. This weapons are very dangerous.. In São Paulo i saw in past a Police Man that died when a .22lr revolver shoted in short distnce and crossed an expired bulletproof vest.

Il Cal. 22 LR è micidiale. Al 99% si muore di sicuro. Se non prende organi vitali direttamente, la morte sopraggiunge per emorragia. Anche per i medici è difficile intervenire. Le ferite sono piccole ma devastanti.

Understanding the mission of a pocket gun, any caliber is really fine. It’s for breaking contact with the enemy, not for taking him into custody. Beretta Bobcat is my choice. Reliable with good ammo, very easy to shoot, safe in the pocket, rugged and small.
@BrassBashers
@BrassBashers 3 жыл бұрын
People talk caliber, I just got sick of paying double for .380 ammo than 9mm lol, even before the past election .380 was higher than .45. For pocket carry (what I do the most now) I switched to the Diamondback DB9, never looked back. It's uncomfortable and kicks like a .38 snubby, but it's reliable and I can hit man sized targets out to 50 yards with it consistently.

As a retired LEO, my philosophy was if I could use it if disarmed, it could come into play. Or if I could break contact, and back myself into a close range ambush position and wait for the bad guy to blunder into my sights. PS. You aren't far from me. I live in Hendersonville NC.

@@infjintegrityvsnarcissism7295It depends, I carried a J-frame as a bug in the 80s in Las Vegas but there were guys carrying all kinds of guns. Our Dept let us carry literally any gun we wanted to. They supplied a 9mm S&W but half the guys chose their own guns even a few still carrying revolvers. In a Dept of about 1,100 cops you saw all kinds of bugs; Derringers, .25 autos, old I- frame .32s, you name it, some guy was carrying it. There were Depts that had standard issued carry guns and standard bugs, there were Depts that did not allow bugs at all.

Another good vid Sootch. I really hate the term, "mouse gun". I am pretty sure that no one shot by a mouse gun, would ever call it that. The LCP Max is the current King of pocket guns imo. A reliable design with up to 13 round capacity in a capable caliber, in a pistol that shoots much softer than you'd think AND has good, usable sights (and tritium at that)....all the size of your palm. You can also get them for about $369 in a lot of places. Put the 99 grain federal hst in it and your attacker is going to need a coroner.

My daily carry is the m and p bodyguard .380. Have a +1 magguts, 7+1, and a pinky extension for a full three finger grip. Painted the front sight white for better target acquisition. I load it with either Hornady critical defense or Federal hydrashock. I'll regularly shoot 300+ rounds at the range and it just begs for more. Keep it in a desantis nemesis pocket holster. I have a first issue BG, I never liked the laser so I removved the battery and just forgot it's there. The sights are good for this type of gun, and my BG is quite accurate. The only thing I don't like about it is that it feels like an m-80 going off in my hand. I never understood all the hate being leveled at the trigger. It's not for target shooting, you want a heavier trigger for sd. Plus the trigger stages better than most.

The one problem with the Bodyguard is the mag release wears out from friction with a holster. I had to replace mine 3 times so I stopped carrying it. Not fun when you take your first shot and the mag falls out of the gun. I did finally find a metal mag release button to replace it. I'm very happy now though with my Sig 238. Even more reliable than the S&W Bodyguard.

My first BUG when I started my LE career was a Beretta 21A in .22LR. Years went by and I sold it to another fellow who refused to listen to my safety briefing. He was a vet, knew "all about these" etc., etc. He was not listening when I warned him about the lack of extractor or ejector. He "cleared" it one night by dropping the mag and racking the slide. He also failed to notice nothing came out of the chamber. He then pulled the trigger and had to fill out an incident report with his agency on why he had a .22 caliber bullet wound through his hand. He called me later and apologized for not listening. He became a much better listener after that. Sometimes we all just need an object lesson. ;)

I made a TON of the "Baby Browning" .25 autos under the PSP name for domestic sales and the Browning name for export when I worked for Precision Small Parts in Charlottesville, VA. I can attest to them being excellent pistols. We were told at the time by a visiting State Police representative that it was the preferred backup and undercover pistol for State Police officers due to their small size, capacity, and reliability. Designed by none other than John Browning, it still has a place in this world and is relevant even today. We had one test pistol in the vault that I'd run proof loads through, and even after having logged well over 100 proof loads, it showed NO signs of fatigue and was just as tight and accurate as it was for the first 6 "normal" loads. Great pistols, if you can find one of the original "PSP .25" guns (not the later "PSA .25" guns, which I won't go into).

@Warren Brenner I've read that that also makes it easier for a blow to the muzzle (or to the hammer) to cause the hammer to slip the sear and fall. I have not been able to confirm that for certain. Just be cautious. Since you have the BS, you should consider carrying it fully-cocked, with the safety on. Mine is an Italian, made in 1964, and does not have the safety lever. The Beretta 950 Jetfire is my favorite too. I keep mine ready to go and it finds it's way into my pocket or over-night bag fairly often. Mine is a 1964 950B. The "B" model has improved safety (inertial firing pin, I believe) making it safer to carry loaded with the hammer down. The BS model came about after the infamous 1968 Gun Control Act as that safety made it legal for import. Mine, being a 1964 model, lacks that tiny safety but I'd rather thumb back the hammer anyway. One other advantage of the tip-up barrel is for hammer-down carry. If you cock it and decide not to shoot, you can tip up the barrel to manually lower the hammer without risking a whooopsie. ;)

Used to have a P-38, I regret selling it. Got my S&W 1006 10mm under my coat right now; big, loud, heavy recoil, all manageable, but it delivers. Also .45 Backup in side picket. Awful recoil, but manageable, and final. Dont laugh at .25s, tho, my dad always said "6 rounds outta one'll make a guy awful sick". I know people squawk but that's because they don't actually know... The Keltec .380 is still the lightest/smallest .380 out there, it's easy to shoot, very dependable and surprisingly accurate. I've had mine a long time (Ruger liked them enough to copy the hell out of it) and with Xtreme Defender ammo, it gets the job done while fitting in a small pocket, ankle holster, etc. and you don't even know it's there (and neither does anyone else). People like to complain about KelTec quality (which is vastly improved) but this is a simple, easy to service, goes bang every time pistol that is easy to shoot and control, even in my giant hands. And I want one of those 950BS's. 😀

I would highly unrecommend the LCP 2 or .22 for carry, they have a known problem when the magazine release can easily be depressed in the pocket or even while firing, making them a 1 shot wonder until you tap-rack it... For those that have them I would recommend buying the extra powered mag release spring; it's $10, takes just a few hand tools to replace, and can be done in less than 10 minutes following a KZbin video.

The Beretta 950 BS is the best .25 ever built in my opinion, due to the pop up barrel for easy loading/unloading. I’m not really a mouse gun guy but I bought my dad a Ruger LCR in .22LR that he loves. He has bad arthritis so he can’t handle the recoil of even a .380acp.
