Stop. I would _love_ a "Jem" movie. I've been waiting in vain for an animated "Jem" reboot since "She Ra." That thing that came to theaters was not Jem. I'll always hate Hasbro for screwing over Jem twice. In the 80s, they made the dolls so expensive that they didn't sell as well as they wanted them to, making the cartoon get the axe. Then again 30 years later, they made the film so generic and bland that it contributed to reruns of the cartoon on the Hub and the vastly superior comic book being pulled. Fuck Hasbro.

Didn’t know there was a Jem movie until after WatchMojo first talked about it, and by then it was already pulled. If only they made this either in the latr 80’s, the 90’s, or early 2000’s while staying faithful to the source material, it *might’ve* faired better.
@zaphodthenth5 ай бұрын
@@whitewolf3051 I never saw this but there was the talk about this movie. The original cartoon was about a young woman who had a "Secret life" as a singer who used "Holographic disguise earrings" to conceal her identity. Whereas the movie dealt with a group of teenage girls who became popular because of a music video they posted to KZbin. AND "Jems'" deceased father had built a robot companion for her. AND as the group began to travel it revealed that her late father had hidden clues to a final message for her. These two only had a name in common: Which really P.O.ed the fans of the cartoon series. If you want to do nostalgia bait, you need to time it properly and actually make the movie NOSTALGIC. Jem could probably have been timed better, but the biggest failing was that they didn't make an 80s-tastic, highly-elevated movie, they made a generic 2010s teen flick. @@trinaqI interpreted Pat as non-binary since they don't follow gender constraints, but it still didn't work in a comedic manner. I don't have an issue with a comedy with a non-binary protagonist, but when they become a caricature rather than a real person, that's when I take issue with it.

I'm surprised Gigli didn't get an Honorable Mention. It was pulled after 21 days. Earning $7.2 Million off a $75.6 Million budget. It released on 1 August 2003 in 2,215 theaters, averaging only $1,694 per theater and was gone forever by 21 August.

i was one of the fortunate ones who got the see Postal on the big screen. Some of the best entertainment dollars I have ever spent. Opening scene is comedy gold and the entire film easily as classic as Freddy Got Fingered.

I still remember when “Heaven’s Gate” came out. It did so poorly that United Artists declared bankruptcy and MGM took over its entire business!

I've only seen It's Pat, but not at the theater, it was on Comedy Central. I'm a bit surprised it hasn't been on MST3K, did they make a riff track at least 🤔 Now I was looking for Silent Night Deadly Night at the video store back when we had video stores (they didn't have it), but I did enjoy that Tales From The Crypt episode though, Naughty or Nice So do they pull movies when they're flops 😧, do movies not get the same treatment as Broadway, for Broadway a flop can make more than a hit: "How did this happen, I was so careful! I had the wrong script, the wrong director and the wrong cast! Where did I go right!" lol 🤪

Bialystock worked so hard to make it bad that the audience misinterpreted it as a comedy: "so bad, it's good."

Not saying that FIFA movie is good in any way, but it would have bombed in North America even if it was a masterpiece. The average North American couldn't care less about football, much less about how the "federation" works.

i saw The Garbage Pail Kids movie in the theatre. i recall there was about 10 people there, including my group of 4. I love bad movies, in fact my favorite genre is "can you see the boom mic at least once?" but the GPK movie i can't bring myself to (re)watch from beginning to end.

Most of these movies are terrible, but "The Watcher in the Woods" isn't bad at all. It's no classic, but it's fairly entertaining.

At the theater in my small city, Final Fantasy the spirits within was only there for a week 😢. My friends and I were in Jr high and had to watch Dr Doolittle 2 instead because we came 2 days late. We were livid.

Another one for this list -- Mom an Dad Save the World (1992). If I wan't 8 months pregnant at the time I saw this in the theaters I would have walked out. And despite being miserable, achy, and thrilled with my swollen ankles, I had still thought about it. I was not alone in this misery however. My then husband took a nap, many, MANY people walked out by the halfway mark, and the remaining victims, myself included, sat there staring in disbelief. As on guy in front of us put it -- Do you think they were forced to make that movie? -- excellent question

Saw David Lynch's 'Lost Highway' in the theater in the late 90's. I enjoyed it for what it was (I expected it to be weird) but I actually got to witness a full theater empty out as it progressed until there was only about 10 of us left. Don't know if I have ever seen that happen at any other movie.

The people who grew up with Jem and the holograms would have been at least 40 when that movie came out. And I dont think it was a movie for 40 year olds. So who where the hoping would fill the theaters? Postal was hilarious but also kind of offensive so I see why it would get yanked. United Passions was just plain terrible. I dont even know how it got a release.

"Delgo" was in the works for almost a decade. it started strong with high hopes. Their review system was in the public. it was revolutionary. But they dragged and did God knows what with the money. By the time they decided to kick into high gear it was almost 8 years later and the renderings looked dated and the animation went from preschool to highly advanced, all rolled into one. its a shame really, at the time it went into production it wouldve done really well and a lot of people put their heart into it.
