@Sternz Before they upgraded Disneyland's Matterhorn Yetis one of them didn't work and Disney added strobes to it, just like Expedition Everest. Even when they worked I think they just opened their mouths to roar and maybe wiggled their arms a little. The new yetis are definitely a huge improvement (despite the controversy over the iconic roar being replaced by a rather underwhelming snarl).

Actually, the Yeti at Expedition Everest still works! It’s just the foundation UNDER IT that doesn’t work. When it moved, it was a little too heavy for the foundation, and it caused it to crack slightly. If they had left it on, it would have broke the foundation. So, they put it into “B Mode” where it doesn’t move and instead has a strobe light behind it. Now, to fix said foundation, they’d have to rip the top of the mountain off, drag the yeti away, and go in there for a long time to fix it. Then they’d have to bring the Yeti ALL THE WAY BACK, and fix the ENTIRE MOUNTAIN TOP, and also make sure the new foundation WORKS with Mr. Disco Yeti. and then, finally, after ALL OF THAT, Disco Yeti will be no more, and we’ll have big, fluffy, scary, lunging yeti.

The Cars are mighty impressive, but I'd personally give the #1 spot to the dragon. I just saw Fantasmic for the first time last month, and that dragon is IMPRESSIVE. It was WAY taller and more animated than I had pictured it would be. Anyway, thanks for the vid!

I love the Audio Animatronics that I see in Disney's rides and parks. Makes you really feel like you've entered their world. Honestly, my favorite animatronic is Dragon Maleficent in Fantasmic. Just the sheer size and action she presents really makes me feel she's gonna come over the river and destroy everything. But then Mickey comes out and takes care of her!

When I was a kid, we went to Disney World and went to see the Hall of Presidents. When we were leaving, my grandmother said “Pretty amazing how they could find so many people who look so much like the presidents.” She thought they were real people, and was thoroughly amazed when we explained they were just animatronics.

Every animatronic is gorgeous, even if it's not super articulated, but I have to say that I have a strangely big place in my heart for the Buzz Lightyear animatronic in Astro Blasters! I went on the ride for the first time quite a few years back when I went back to Disneyland after not having gone for nearly a decade. When I first saw him I was so in awe I could hardly contain myself! Something about that animatronic is so amazingly cool to me! And I obviously have quite the affinity to every Toy Story character.

I've never been to any theme park before or anywhere that utilises animatronics, but I just love the amount of thought that goes into the designs of them. I'm an animator, so the concept of a tangible animated figure is awesome.

I’m so happy. I get to be with my six year old cousin the first time she sees country bears. I might cry. My favourite animatronic is Ariel in the "Part Of Your World" scene of The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure. She's not as tall as Ursula, but she's just as fun to watch, and the way they made her hair move like as if she was underwater? That's pretty amazing!

Last year a week before I went to California with my dad and brother, they replaced Captain Jack Sparrow with the real Johnny Depp, so on the flight there I heard the story and got so disappointed. But I still loved the ride because it's been my favorite since I was really little, the animatronics always make me laugh and smile, the talking bird always entertains me, and the water/dark-ride is super cool too. Disney is in general is a beloved thing in my family and we actually have a brick with our names engraved in it, and it ties into my family living Christmas too. My grandparents were on the news multiple times because of the 100+ trees in their house! Thanks for making these videos TPMvids!

Disney has upgraded the animatronic projections to look more natural. Especially the projections for the cars, (like mater) and if you see it in person, it looks way better than seen on camera.

Those Cars animatronics look like they drove right out of the screen, especially the ones with physical mouth movements instead of projections! Really amazing stuff, I wonder what the future will look like?

Although i considered it a rather ingenious and very effective alternative, i gotta say projected animation on animatronics is a bit of a cop-out (except for cars maybe). I do understand that building animatronics fully animated facial features is more costly and more of an hassle in maintenance but i do think that this extra effort goes a long way, personally.

I remember when I was little, I went on the Midway Mania at Pixar pier, and I was wearing my Mickey Mouse Hoodie with Ears on it. I was waiting in line to get on the ride and he ACTUALLY said, "Hey, kid! Nice Mickey Mouse Jacket!" It felt kinda nice to be talked to by a Famous Disney Character. And, of course, it was one of my favorite Toy Story Characters: Mr. Potato Head!

I think for the history of it, I think you must go see the enchanted tiki room. You’ve got animatronics both interior and exterior from the attraction, and it’s a huge piece of Disneyland history. The entire room is an animatronic. First timers will be delighted as singers come from all sorts of places. There’s even a tiki room dance if you wanna look it up on KZbin.

My favorite is definitely MALEFICENT because I love how it gets a ball of fire out just before it disappears and the moves at the end when Mickey defeats her, it looks a lot like a animatronic fail so if it malfunctions at that time, no one will notice 😛
