As someone who’s been trained in and worked with explosives for a living my biggest tip of advice is set your line up first then place your charge, you risk popping that thing off if the wire snags in the spool or you slip or something, no charge placed simply means you can start over. My experience with predators is that half run away on loud noises (gunshot) and half attack out of fright. "Fight or flight" is sometimes fight with bears and big cats. Be careful.

Try taping a BB pellet to the primer of a shotgun shell then tying a slipknot to hold the shell in place above a flat stone and extending that line as your tripwire. THAT is a better intrusion alarm in place of the device I just saw.
