Oud Wood is a masterpiece, legendary! The best fragrance from Tom Ford! The only negative is the performance. Kind of strange to be saying that a Tom Ford fragrance lacks good performance.
@Bruceylancer2 жыл бұрын
I have 6 Tom Ford fragrances from this line (private blend) and actually all of them aren't great performers. Too bad, since the scents themselves are great.

@@Bruceylancer what about oud tobacco?
@Bruceylancer2 жыл бұрын
@@alexmoumtzis304 Yeah, I have it as well (along with Oud Wood), also not great performance, even though the scent is amazing, which is really weird since oud fragrances should be beasts. For example, I have MFK Oud - the performance is out of this world! The only one which performs decently from the TF private blend line is Tobacco Vanille. By the way, the same thing applies to the house of Creed. Amazing scents, but issues with performance.
@alexmoumtzis3042 жыл бұрын
@@Bruceylancer ok I’m asking you because i tried Tobacco oud twice from a store and to me it seemed like it had great performance. I could smell it all day on my skin and i wanted to commit to a full bottle. But now I’m not sure and i think that i have some other alternatives at this price point. Initio oud for greatness, LV Ombre nomade and Killian Black Phantom are some other deep and dark fragrances that i consider.
@Bruceylancer2 жыл бұрын
@@alexmoumtzis304 I mean sure, all of those you can definitely smell on your skin for a long time, the issue is with the sillage. But maybe it has something to do with skin chemistry. I guess the best way to figure it out is to ask your friends if they can smell it in the air a couple of hours after spraying. Maybe it works better for you than for me :)

10 niche for newbies, let me think 1 Mancera So Blue this is a blue fragrance, but done with niche quality and pretty good price its basically ADG profundo with extra rose and vanilla 2 Guerlain Home edt mohito in a bottle, very affordable but great quality 3 Creed EROLFA this is one of my favourite aquatic scent it is also in my top 5 creeds , this will dominate in the summer 4 PDM Layton I hate to be captain obvious here but there isn't more newbie-friendly niche scent than Layton 5 Amouage Epic man this is the best representation of what the brand is about but in a beginner friendly package it basically smells spice-bom-esque but you also get oud in this. Cold weather office scent, formal occasion or date is when you reach for this. 6 Lartisan perfumier tea for two this is a more high quality version of Gucci PH II, which is now discontinued. This is chai latte in a bottle great for fall and spring, it works in the office , casual or coffee dates and what have you. 7 Bond no9 Bleecker street this is just iconic scent and everyone need to try this 8 Kilian Back to Black honey, cherry tobacco this is is amazing it will be your Netflix and chill scent of choice 9 MFK BR 540 I admit this is not exactly beginner-friendly but it will grow on you and if you want to be a serious collector you need to try this 10 Nassomato Baroanda this is an expensive single malt scotch in a bottle. This is for people who like boozy scents, think Mugler single malt but taken to the final boss level. This is for clubbing.

Really love Reflection Man… on me.. almost smells magestic. Rarely do I have something that not only lifts my spirits, but elevates my spirit. Reflection Man does this for me. But BHM does something similar as well. It just “takes me away”. I have both because of your reviews and both are a few of my favorites.. not just from the line but from my “all out” favorite list.

Nice list, I have not tried most of them (though I smelled some), I am quite new to niche perfumes, but I tend to lean towards complex scents (I am currently obsessed with African leather and Hacivat). One thing that is difficult for newbies is not to buy the same kind of scent too much, you can end-up quickly with 5 summery fresh perfumes because you love citrus :).

Human Nature, very underrated 80's classic. My favorite Amouage remains Bracken Man, but that's because I love both old-school fougeres and clove, and it combines those two incredibly well. I really like Chergui, and it seems weird but I have it in my summer bin as an evening fragrance because I've already got a couple of SL scents in my fall and winter bins and despite being very sweet, that hay note gives it a dry, green powderiness that actually works as a warm-weather scent in the evenings. I also just got my first 50ml of Oud Wood after at least 5 years of admiring it from samples and in-store tests. I'm letting it macerate for a few months before I bust it out this winter and then I'll see if I keep it there.

Somtimes i get tired of these lists but you do them well my friend. If you are a newbie and considering dropping coin on niche i would urge you to consider checking out some of the classics as well and or even first if you havent before. You will understand niche so much better if you smell and wear the popular scents of the past. If you are a man try out the ysl kouros and givenchy gentlemen and paco rabanne pour hommes of the world. Get your nose on heritage and jazz and m7 and hugo boss number 1 and . If you learn some of those scents of the past you will much better understand niche. You will start to smell mitsouku in Diaghilev or mugler cologne in original vetiber or Heritage in Danger. Plus all these niche companies and their creators were inspired by famous creations of the past usually. If i could do it all over again i would check the classics like quorom or azzaro pour homme or ysl pour homme first and then transition to niche. Plus you can still find some of those vintage scents for 10 or 15 times less than a new roja or creed. I love all the niches frags i own but if i could do it all over as a newbie i would tell my younger self to not ignore the classics. Great way to let your nose mature as well and learn what paved the way for modern day niche. And dont ever associate quality with price! There are some niche frags that are hundreds of dollars that are trash and there are 20 or 30 dollar frags that are gems. If this helps one fellow frag head i will be happy i spent the time to type it. -Ramsey

Ohhh I am so glad to see Rouge Smoking on your list. I had a big weekend visiting some fragrance shops in Auckland as I'm from New Zealand and this was one of my favourites. I also liked Grand Soir by MDK and was wondering if anyone could recommend some fragrances similar to both with maybe a bit more boozy and tabacco notes. I am just getting into fragrances so my nose is on training wheels. I am guessing that fragrances are a bit like wine in that with time your nose develops and gets more accustomed to some of the niche fragrances. I was able to smell a few you had recommended such as Timbuktu. Although there was something I liked about it, at this stage it was just too much for me (and my wife wouldn't come near me). Yesterday I purchased Layton along with Herod, Cedrat Boise and Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens. I am a jazz fan and I especially love trumpet so my wife thinks I have a man crush, shes jealous ha ha. Love the channel anyway.
