Harvest moon inspired?!?!? Story of seasons was harvest moon before the localisers copyrighted the name. All of the new games with "harvest moon" are just cheap knock offs.

I'm going to reiterate what was already partially said, but try to complete the narrative and make it easier to understand (despite a lengthy description). The American/European Harvest Moon games up to and including A New Beginning are all localized from the Bokujō Monogatari franchise in Japan. After A New Beginning, Marvelous and Natsume parted ways, with Natsume holding the rights to the name "Harvest Moon" and Marvelous holding the rights to the Bokujō Monogatari games. This meant that Natsume had the name Harvest Moon but no games, while Marvelous had the Japanese games but could no longer localize them as "Harvest Moon". Natsume decided to create their own farm sims and call them Harvest Moon (The Lost Valley, Seeds of Memories, Skytree Village). Marvelous chose the name Story of Seasons for their continuation of the Bokujō Monogatari localizations. So Story of Seasons and Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns are the actual next installments of the Harvest Moon you've known for 20 years, hence why Story of Seasons made the list and The Lost Valley didn't. With all that said, this is a solid list! Fantasy Life and Animal Crossing: New Leaf are by far my 2 most played 3DS games!

I played both RF4 and Animal crossing. The best for me is still RF4. I have played it 4 times already and never got tired of it. Will play it again now. It is the main reason why I impulsively bought Nintendo 3ds because of rly high rating. If they ever release RF5 in switch, I would buy a switch too if i have the money

Story of Seasons is the original Harvest Moon though. Because the real developer of Harvest moon is Marvelous and Natsume is just a publisher. Natsume claim that they are the developer of the original Harvest moon but Marvelous is the real developer and Natsume is just a publisher.

It seems almost no one like the Farming Simulator series. While being simplified from the pc and console counterparts not good as Farming Simulator 17 on the Switch, I enjoyed Farming Simulator 18 on 3DS.
