The fact that Tears of the Kingdom is so flawed makes me happy tbh. It more than any other game shows how much the future holds for gaming if something so good has so much room for improvement

Love this take. It was hard to see what the future of Zelda could be after BOTW; now that we have TOTK, retrospectively it seems obvious how much better TOTK is, with many even making the "tech-demo" comparison. So what comes next? Something that makes TOTK look like a tech-demo? 😮 We can only dream...

@@ediblenebulas1164 Breath Of The Wild is way more timeless than TOTK. You wanted to play that game over and over again, unlike Tears which is phenomenal the first time but enough for anyone who's played both games.

I say that TOTK is a lot more replayable than BOTW despite TOTK's overworld being less of a first-time discovery due to reusing BOTW map (and this, despite adding tons of gigantic caves). There are endless possibilities and so many possible experiments that I always want to push further and explore the possibilities in TOTK. As someone in another channel mentioned, BOTW is like the first time you eat a cake, so it's a very special moment, whereas TOTK is the second time you eat a cake, but a much better cake.

@@leesog3203 on the contrary. Since you've played both games, you're familiar enough with the maps that exploration wouldn't be a main concern. So you'd go to the one with better gameplay and more stuff to do. Also TOTK has just much better everything, wether it's difficulty, weapons, combat, accessibilty, story, world, you name it. TOTK is just better at literally every single thing.

Witcher 3 is blurry as heck . But I respect yall opinion but I could choose 10 games that’s better ! Luigi mansion 3 , xenoblade 1 and 2, splatoon 2 and 3, octopath traveler , dragon quest 11,Monster hunter rise, super Mario rpg,dragon dogma and I could list more .

Ok but what about astral Chain, bayonetta 3, Splatoon 3, shin megami tensei v, Luigi's Mansion 3 or FE Engage? Too many gems to be putting mario kart 8, super mario 3dworld, Witcher 3 and BOTW over and over again. Those games deserve much more attention especially being a Switch Games Video.

Maybe not unpopular but unthought of viewpoint Tears is basically the Switch’s mainline exclusive Legend of Zelda as it didn’t appear on a previous console.. It seems like it’s a matter of personal preference being there are some real bangers on the platform.. I have an affinity for FE Three Houses mostly because I love SRPGs and that’s what I started with

⁠@@ItsameAlex It’s simple, for BOTW, the magic of exploring Hyrule for the first time remains undefeated. After exploring The Depths and Sky Islands for a few hours you realise how barren and carbon copy the whole thing is. Additionally, the story structure for Tears is completely identical to BOTW making the game even more boring. For a Zelda title, exploration should always be one of the key pillars, TOTK tries to make additions and changes to the world but fail to make it interesting. They essentially choose quantity over any real depth. The best of Tears are it’s mechanics, set pieces & revamped and improved Side Quests but sadly that’s not enough to carry a 100+ hour experience

Yea Tears of the kingdom felt like and Iphone upgrade. There were a few good new features, but at the end of the day it was the same damn game basically.

It’s not supposed to play like the surface anyway, you go down there to increase your battery through various methods, get gear/costumes organically instead via amiibo, uncorrupted weapons from ghost soldiers for fusing (which scale to get better over time like enemies) and poes, as well as map out Shrines via light roots (which are connected to shrines above). On top of some other stuff and quests. Plus it has 2 dungeons and the final battle area. You don’t treat each map as if it’s supposed to do everything the surface does, they’re there to do their own thing each and work in tandem. Tears just has way more content and things going on than Breath does map wise, and it is higher quality. Again, these things are meant to be taken and used together, not be judged independent from each other. The depths, surface and sky all work together and easily beat BOTWs surface by itself. The depths are just 1 part of the whole map, as is the sky. They aren’t meant to be judged WITHOUT the surface, and vice versa. The variety comes from all 3 map sections working together, not separately. I guess the story is weak, but the same was true for BOTW as well in that regard.

I personally would swap Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild around. It's a bit difficult to explain, but I just prefer and favor the 2017 title over its 2023 successor. Maybe it has something to do with how Tears of the Kingdom reused the same world map as Breath of the Wild and thus the world did not feel as magical or awe-inspiring as its predecessor, but that's just my thoughts.

I agree with you. Although I can say that Totk is a better game in many ways, I would say that my journey with Botw was more magical since the exploration of Hyrule of this magnitude was such an adventure the first time around. Both games are in my top 3 Zelda games of all time!
