Actually "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" is a title with very much sense in it. Cause it's a nigerian saying that means "It comes like it comes". That pretty tells what the song is all about. IMO "I Am The Walrus" makes much less sense...

Tolyngee really!? i found the VHS video casette version of it in a car boot sale, and bought it. Never really thought it was racist as i knew nothing about American culture until like year (Grade) 7 or 8 at school, when we had to learn about Martin Luther King, in our religious education class. that lesson blew my mind. I do know however that in the last 10 years or something disney released "The adventures of Bree Rabbit" which is an all animated film, with no live action which focus' more on the short stories of the rabbit from the original film, and while the main character is the little african american girl, there is nothing to suggest there is any racism or slavery in this film. its one of the only animated films i can think of with a black character. Princess and the frog comes to mind every time.

Never heard that Fa Fa Fa song before...but granted the context it makes sense. Seems like he has been singing the blues and became known for that genre. He probably got a bit tired of the blues and wanted to try something different. I imagine if he had a producer they would lean in and pressure him to stick with what they know already works. He sings Fa Fa Fa etc.. which is important. Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do. What I glean from this is that he would love to just have a song in the key of F, which is mostly comprised of major chords. Major scales are generally upbeat and more joyful sounding. Granted there is one minor in the scale. He sings Fa Fa Fa etc. and then tells the sax to repeat and reiterate the happy sounds for emphasis. It's musical banter, a most melodic rapport. Or I'm just wrong. haha

I'd probably put "Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious" (forgive any spelling errors) as my #1. As a huge Disney fan it's a fairly easy pick. Also, I have a friend in Germany who told me they actually did use, "Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm" for cheese commercials over there.

I remember song #3 was sung by ShaNaNa and #6 was sung by Bill Murry in the movie Stripes.

"Dub-i-dub" (doop-ee-doop) by Me & My. A big hit in Denmark in the 90's. Quite catchy :o)

I think I got the gist of this wrong as the first song title that came to my head was "Hey" by the Butt Hole Surfers where the title is 95% of the lyrics. Then, I thought it might mean songs where the title is just down right confusing and makes no sense as with "Funk 49" (Joe Walsh) and "Rainy Day Woman #12&35" (Bob Dylan). After the 1st entry I got it though. Good & fun list! M/B a list of confusing song titles in the future Mojo? Thanks!!!

#10 is actually funny, because 1. I would not have expected a German entry on this list (except Rammstein or Nena). 2. I did not know, that it was so popular in other countries, even at it´s time. Of course in Germany it was a major success. But even the original text is kinda redundant. "I don´t love you, you don´t love me, aha" repeated several times and only interrrupted by "Da Da Da". XD

There are so many to choose from, but the first 2 that came to my mind were: Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang and Ooh Wakka Do Wakka Day.

The voice over is clearly not familiar with several of these songs. The way he pronounced 'De do do do, De da da da' made me cringe. 9:00

Wait a minute! I knew I recognized that beat! The first guys on the list, the "Da Da Da" ones, were using a copy of my dad's old piano! The little thing in his hand? I played with that all the time when I was little! I wonder if Dad knows someone made a hit song with that old clunker...

"in a gaddah da vida" actually was "in the garden of Eden" but was changed after they found that it sounded like what the current title is. I guess it's their idea of an inside joke. No matter the name, still a rad song.
