I think Blackbeard has the greatest villain introduction in all of anime. You don’t even realize who he is at first, and it’s starts really funny. But then it does a complete twist when he gives his speech on dreams and you learn his true identity. Masterful.

I remember being so impressed with Kuma's first appearance. He was the first Shichibukai we meet that actually seemed like he was on another level (Mihawk early in the show defeated Zoro easily, but we were too early in the show to properly gauge power imo). His powers were unexplainable, and his emotionless look really left a lasting impression on me

Ace's introduction was memorable too. People thought he was dead after eating some poisonous berry. Then he woke up, revealing he was only sleeping mid lunch. After that, he met Luffy's crew and introduced himself as his brother. The fact that Luffy has a brother was a secret for a very long time. And then, he effortlessly destroyed multiple enemy ships at the same time, while surfing in style. Oh, and his surf board was powered by fiery blast

What I especially love about Kaido's introduction is that he was introduced with his defeats AND the fact that he wants to die. It is really rare that a character is introduced with a singular wish like that. And still, he is at the top of every creature living in this world. Oda did an amazing job with Kaido.

Well, I have to disagree with you. That Kaido moment for me was one of the major plot holes in One Piece, which in my opinion, meaning no offense to Oda sensei and all the fans, makes me dislike the anime. I mean, Kaido can jump to the sea and die, cause he is one of the devil fruit users, right? there's no need to exaggerate that "40 times" the navy tried to death sentences him. Just throw him to the sea and he would be dead. Or Oda intentionally makes the navy a group of retarded people who cant even think of one particular reasons to throw him to the sea out of all those 40 attempts to capital punish Kaido, that's just ignorant I think. If anyone have a logical answer to this, I would be very happy to know.

Big Mom's musical number is great, but the scene of Luffy picking a fight with her over the Den-Den Mushi during Fishman Island deserved a mention as that was not only her first direct appearance but also contributed greatly to painting an appropriately intimidating picture of her character. I also would've put Imu on this, his debut is one of the most insane plot twists in the story and it's had me hyped for his full reveal for like 5 years ongoing.

It's not epic like the others, but Smoker's introduction always puts a smile on my face. Seeing as how the marines are often rude and tyrannical, his reaction to the little girl is very sweet and the line he says is exactly the kind of thing a good person would say to a kid in that situation. It sets up his interactions with Luffy in a way that no other marine besides Koby has, one of mutual respect even if it overlaps with disdain

For me, Mihawk and Aokiji were the biggest ones. Two of the most impactful examples of “our protagonists are super weak”. I loved Mihawk because you get to see Zoro be super cool the entire time, only for Mihawk to beat him effortlessly with a pocket knife. That was insane to me. Aokiji was Mihawk on another level. The way he absolutely destroyed the straw hats left me shook, it was crazy at the time how he won without breaking a sweat, and could’ve killed everyone if he wanted to

He then perfectly predicts every roulette roll and somehow crushes dudes into the ground with his powers, leaves saying “it’s better to not know who I am”. The introduction of Kaido was the first and so far only one in all of One Piece that left me with a complete feel of shock and a level of excitement yet unrivaled. Especially since up until that point, all we had of Kaido was this weird silhouette that the anime gave us, seeing him in all his glory for the 1st time was incredible.

Sabaody Archipelago & the return are one of the best arcs in all of anime! The introductions, the strawhats loss & the comeback to find an imposter! All just good.

Finally someone with great taste lol. Sabaody is the best One Piece arc for me, it tops even Marineford and Ennies Lobby which are usually at people's top lists, the only one that can rival it a little is Reverie arc.

I love the straw hats pirates crew re-introduction after the 2y time skip. Started with those hilarious impostors, then comes the real crew and a small portion of their new look & abilities, and then Oda wrap it all with Luffy's best line to Rayleigh "I'm gonna be a pirate king!"

1.) You mssed up big mom's introduction, the first time we catch a glimpse of her is when she eats one of her subordinates. 2.) My favourite introduction was that of blackbeard. Even though it seems harmless on the surface, aminor dispute over cherry pie before agreeing with Luffy on dreams, there wass just something about the whole thing. I remember the scene vividly and even when I saw it for the first time, I knew that he was going to be big, really big, one way or another.

When Blackbeard spoke to Luffy outside Luffy knew something was off. Blackbeards crew was hanging around waiting to see if their captain was going to start a fight. Luffy and Zoro waited to see if Blackbeard was going to start something but he had lost interest because Luffy had only a 30million beri bounty. Nami thought it was only Blackbeard and asked 'what's with him' and was answered 'it's not him, it's them'. meaning the crew.

Rewatching One Piece at the moment, and I did not realize how incredible Mihawks introduction really is. The pretext to his arrival is that he single-handedly defeated an entire fleet (49/50) of the most feared pirate from the east blue on the grand line in a single afternoon. When he arrives, he is crosslegged in a coffin and casually slices the largest ship we have seen in the story so far into 3 without any effort whatsover. and then the mf episode ends... def top 3 intros for me.

In my opinion, the best introduction in One piece will always be Blackbeard, solely because of the fact that from their very first meet, Teach and Luffy were total opposites. It really sets it up for their inevatiable clash in the last saga.

I believe that the best introduction to this day, has to be Roger's, we get introduced to the pirate king at the very start of the anime, and his last words before being executed publicly started a whole new era of piracy in which our protagonist Luffy takes place in. We know from the very start how important his death meant, but it's not until we actually start watching the anime and get to Oden's flashback that we can truly appreciate the importance of Roger's death as a way to introduce the story of One piece

Actually, Rayleigh was introduced way sooner (in the anime at least). He appears in one of the very first episodes during a flashback where Buggy and Shanks are fighting like children on Roger's ship. Rayleigh is the one who interferes to stop the fight. I know this isn't a proper introduction, but still.

Kuma had a pretty interesting introduction. At first he just gave off a very heavy feeling of mystery. That emotionless face making it impossible to infer what even goes through his head. Only now are we learning the intentions of who is perhaps the mastermind behind Luffy's survival and path in the New World. His first interactions with others in Thriller Bark were at first somewhat insignificant, but looking back during egghead, the significance behind that complexity is coming together.

I agree with you, Kaido was one of my favorite villain introductions in any show I’ve seen with the only ones to top him being *All for One* : that scene of the 1A students was shitting themselves will never not give me chills *Madara* :guy 1v1’s an army and calls it a good warm up *TFP Megatron* :Frank Welker hadn’t voiced Megatron since the 1986 movie so hearing him comeback afford nearly 30 years was glorious

Technically that wasn't the introduction of Big Mom in the series. We saw her before, talking to Luffy on fishmen island via dendenmushi. Also, I wish Whitebeard's appearance in Marineford would have been his actual introduction. Until this day I get goose bumps thinking about this chapter in the Manga, when he came up from the bottom of the sea with the Moby Dick and then caused that massive seaquake!

Kuma’s introduction and, I feel, momonosuke’s introduction, should be here, somewhat over katakuri’s and crocodiles. They had introductions, but not as characters, just as enemies, which really didn’t mean much. Momo’s reveal once they showed him in dragon form, and his original haircut just meant soo much looking at how much it foreshadowed now, it had a lot of meaning, and Kuma’s introduction had me in awe at how inposing he was, imo even more than kaido and his “fake” suicidal wishes. The only thing kaido’a intro has over kuma’s was the achievements that were mentioned with it.

For me , the introduction of Roger in the first episodes as GOLD ROGER is #2 of epicness right behind the introduction of Imm sama, which is to me the most legendary introduction of all the anime, how the seat that should be empty is not, and that the five deans who are supposed to be at the top of the hierarchy of the whole structure of one piece are actually "RULED" by one person above, higher on that pyramid and that it can be a woman, it puts it TOP 1 for me

Aokiji casually riding his bike in the open sea is still one of the best introductions for me
