As I posted, I mean, I personally that the Red Line was created in the void centuries, and that finding the One Piece will set off the Ancient Weapons, thus destroying the Red Line, bringing the holy land crashing down. This will do two things that have been hinted at. 1: Destroy Fishman Island, as Madam Shyarly predicted, but it will allow the fishman to migrate to the surface on the Noah. And 2: Create the All Blue. With the Redline gone, the All Blue will exist again, and it makes sense that people believe it exists due to stories passed down by ancestors who remember when they could catch fish of all kinds.

So in Mihawk's eyes Shanks was a rival when he still had his right arm (maybe it was his stronger arm?). Plus, when Shanks was visited by Mihawk, he assumed that Mihawk wanted a match. Then Mihawk said that he was not interested in "challenging a one armed man". Now why would Mihawk, who is the strongest, challenge someone for a match? Could it be that he wanted to prove himself? one of the many reasons I love Luffy: that scene in #1. So you know everything about the One Piece? Don't tell me a damn thing. I don't even wanna know if it exists, I wanna find out for myself. So many people compare him and other characters that 'want to the best' as the same when they aren't. Sure the end goal is SIMILAR, but the end goal is different for each one, and each has their own reason. A good example is Naruto. He was wants to the best ninja of his village (Hokage) and Luffy wants to be the King of Pirates. End goals are similar, but they aren't the same as one is a rank and the other a title, and the methods of getting both are very different. Another difference is, and a big one for both: why? Naruto wants to be the best ninja in his village because he wants everyone to recognize him and prove everyone who doubted him wrong. Luffy is in this for the adventure, its just how he is. He wants to make it to his destination, he wants to enjoy the ride, and he doesn't want any short cuts.
