@4:40. P.O.D. In 1995 I ordered their independent debut release via telephone direct to the band. They prayed for me and signed the record. Then I saw the singer propose to his wife at Cornerstone festival. Then they got huge. Good fellows.

1. Boss RE-202- Best recreation of any tape echo unit I’ve heard. Incredibly faithful to the original, Radiohead in a box. 2. UA Starlight- Best emulation of the Echoplex that I’ve heard, beyond the shadow of a doubt the best emulation of the original deluxe memory man, and an excellent digital delay based on the 2290 rack units. The bonus copper tube mode is excellent as well. 3. Paul Cochrane Tim V3- Favorite drive/boost of the year. Update to an already classic pedal. Sounds great through any amp or guitar I try. 4. EAE Dude Incredible V2- EAE make the best dirt pedals in the industry and the dude incredible v2 is no exception. Combines the Harmonic Percolater and the IVP Tube Voice rack unit to capture the legendary sound of Steve Albini who had produced countless classic albums including Pixies “Surfer Rosa”, Nirvana’s “In Utero” and PJ Harvey’s “Dry” just to name a few. 5. Catalinbread SFX- The best take on the legendary Soft Focus algorithm used by bands such as Lush, Slowdive, Cocteau Twins and even Radiohead just to name a few. Honorable mentions: Keeley Halo, Caroline Arigato, OBNE Screen Violence, MXR Duke of Tone, Walrus Lore, Walrus M1 4.

My favorite pedal I picked up this year is the JHS Germanium Boost. I run it around the 1 o'clock position with the switch in the up position into my Z Wreck Jr. , then into a 2x12 loaded with Greenbacks. It sounds great alone, and through an ODR-1 or any of my other drive pedals it kills! Also picked up a Greer Lightspeed, and it sounds fantastic also.

Started experimenting with a stereo, two amp setup this year. Octave reverb, DL-4, split out to a JHS Nano Muff and Behringer Super Fuzz going into a DRRI/Marshall 4x12 and a Fender (BassAmpThing)/8x10. Most of the time I'm playing a Bass VI into that... but really anything at all sounds so huge and beefy and all-encompassing that I just like to stand between them and give myself a fuzzy lil soundbath.

I bought TWO of your pedals this year! The series 3 octave reverb, and the PG-14. The PG-14 replaced my OCD as a gentler, growlier drive for my blues noodling. The octave verb has become a welcome addition to my freaking-out-post-punk-style layers-of-effected-loops mode.

For years, I used an old Korg AX 1000g - It had this effect (filter + pedal) called "Traveller" that did the same/similar as the Blurry with the expression pedal. I could never find anything that matches it, until now (It was great for playing Army of Me by Bjork). Resonance, if it's similar to using a synthesizer, boosts the frequencies at the cutoff point of the filter.
@colinjackson3662
@colinjackson3662 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I had a Korg filter 'pedal' that was connected to the expression footpedal via 5pin DIN cable. Never come across anything quite like it since - this was late 80s,but I don't remember the model. Loved it till it died...
@KennethDonnellyStargazer21
@KennethDonnellyStargazer21 2 жыл бұрын
I noticed that effect some time ago and I have the 1500 g by Korg. What I immediately noticed is that it's just like a wa pedal placed after amps and distortion rather than before, possibly with a little more 'resonance.' if I needed that I can certainly get that with the resonance wa model on the GT 10. Have you tried positioning the wa after your effects?

To get a sound like the Blurry: Most analog synths include a resonant low-pass filter. And some have a external input so that you can patch your guitar through it. It should be easy to find such as filter as a VST. And there are some-like F16 Filter-on the iPad.
@compucorder64
@compucorder64 2 жыл бұрын
Arturia just released a VST based on Korg's MS-20 filter, and it's free at the moment. Another cheap but great option is Doepfer's Wasp eurorack filter, with a boost pedal in front of it, and some form of expression control. One I like most is Manhattan's SVVF. Because it's state variable, and has a Moog CP-3 style mixer circuit on the inputs, that pushes into hairy beefy saturation on the right side of the dial. Saturation into filtering is the magic door.

I purchased the 3 Series Harmonic Trem and The Germanium Boost. I mainly use the trem in a subtle setting, i also like it with more "chop" when using with a fuzz pedal. I use the OC71 the same way you use the Morning Glory, to get a "break up" sound. It's placed before all my drives and after my fuzzes. I usually set it at 9 o'clock, switch up with single coils and switch down with humbuckers. Honestly it makes every pedal sound better.

Bought a PG14 this year after watching the recent video. Not disappointed exactly - think I just underestimated the amount of tweaking it needs. Especially as I’m not used to distortion with so much mid shaping. The rat setting Josh put together sounds a bit thin against my own rat but the ds1 style dirt is fun. I really want the artificial blond tho.

I've had the Kernom Ridge since early November. Can't say enough good things about it. It does exactly what it claims. The only downside I've been able to think of is if it's your only drive pedal, you can't stack pedals like the Summer School Science Fair. But maybe I don't need to. I just have to spend more time dialing in the sound of the stacked pedals! I wonder if it's ethical to order pedals, dial in the Ridge, save the values in my MIDI controller, and then send them back. Hmmmmmm!

I'm on a musician budget, so I buy the deals as I find them, I therefore don't have a top ten of new for 2022 pedals, but here are some picks: #1 TC Electronic SCF+ Gold- I couldn't get my hands on one, but I will. Since it's a reissue, it hardly counts, anyway. Likewise, the Keeley Halo, except it's new, and really useful. #3 Soldano SLO as much gain as I'll ever use, and then some; says Soldano, does Soldano. It kicked a couple of more affordable pedals off my board. A couple of expensive ones, too. #4 the TC Zeus klone, which is new-ish, has a fat switch and is cost-effective. I'll honorably mention a couple of not-new pedals that found their way into the mix; Wampler Belle-a boutiquier version of the Nobels ODR with a bass knob and two levels of compression and Vox' NuTube Silk Drive-the clearance price is the new part it can work as a standard pedal, a preamp or direct which would be cool even if it didn't do the cool Dumble sounds. My klone vote is for the Horsemeat, because it saves space = moar pedals!

I love the Boost Blurry pedal. I get a similar sound with my FabTone and Moogflooger RingModulator. The ring pedal has the expression pedal too.
