The World to Come is a beautifully acted film with stunning visuals. Vanessa Kirby and Katherine Waterston are outstanding. Set in rural New York State in the 1850's.

All of those are awesome movies. Not a bad one in the bunch. However, I am particularly drawn to The Girl King and Affinity. It goes without saying that POALOF is in a class of its own. But hey, I said it anyway. 😊 I can never think of period dramas without including Ammonite. Love Kate and Saoirse together. Another good movie for this genre is The Night Watch. Also, Tell It to the Bees and The Secret Diary of Miss Anne Lister. Let love shine in 2025! ❤️👩❤️👩🌈👍

@ramabaiapparao8801 Yes, a beautiful movie, but not a historical or period movie.

I watched only The Girl King, and frankly I prefer Queen Christina with Great Garbo (1933), there is also the kiss with Countess Ebba Spare , since the movie was made before the censorship era. Just personal thing, but I was more seduced by Garbo's portrayal, which rang truer to historical narratives. Also, Queen Christina's struggle with gender - well, I wouldn't place in modern terms, given that women at the time were prohibited from doing many, many things, ruling was one of them in some countries. Her own father Gustavus II Adolphus instructed her tutor to raise her 'as boy' and created her curriculum; she was to retain only 2 'women's qualities' - chastity and modesty. So, you can imagine what a social experiment that was and how it shape her charachter.
