The last pyjama shorts are a throwback to '60s/'70s usa running shorts, definitely allow for movement. Fun to see. I wouldn't have thought giving these as gifts, but such a great idea with these patterns you selected. Superb!

Lovely patterns . I sew mostly big 4 but I’m liking some of these pj as well . Currently working on a pair of an original 1940s pajamas trousers and shirt , Loving the process and can’t wait to wear them . I really like the yellow pipit loungewear set. Simple and smooth looking . Thanks for your videos 🥰.

When you do these types of reviews it would be helpful to continue to give your feedback on each one about the difficulty. I know you did it for several of them but then you skipped a couple so it made it hard to compare. Thank you.

I’m really happy with the Megan Nielsen reef pattern, I haven’t made the shorts yet, I extended the length of the top to make nightgowns. It takes longer for me to starch the fabric than it does to sew (because it’s cut on the bias). It’s super easy to sew together, I’ve made three in one day.

I wanted to like the Pipit set so badly. But the top absolutely drives me crazy. I’m a big wiggler in my sleep so I thought the big sleeves would be a good fit. Instead, the big sleeves are constantly getting tangled up in the sheets, pulling me back into previous positions my sleeping self has moved on from. I don’t even enjoy the top out of bed. The big sleeves weight down the rest of the top in a weird way. The shorts are fantastic though. It just didn’t occur to me that using a black linen would make the set look very “witchy”.

Hi Kate, an idea for another Vlog would be some of the great coats/outfits of Beth Dutton from Yellowstone. There’s a Native American blanket coat, orange coat and plenty of other outfits! I would love it because I want to make that blanket coat.

Had to Google that one. I think they’re very obviously ‘American’ style and probably not something that would be popular in Europe? Japanese/South East Asian style is more in vogue right now.

You do the most wonderful reviews in your vids, thank you so much Kate. Please don’t feel you must have a bouquet near you as you maybe very allergic to the grasses in them cheers

Would you consider doing one on slip dresses? There are so many patterns that have come out and I would love to see a comparison

Brilliant and informative yet again Kate. I have just started making PJs from Big 4 patterns. After 35 years of traditional patterns I want to give the Indies a go but don't feel confident. Would you consider a video on how this all works? I can't see how print at home on A4 sheets could work for example. What are the advantages of other print options? And, dare I say it, once you pay for pattern, printing etc. it all seems really expensive. Understanding what costs you need to incur would help me take the plunge!

If you do it at home it's just the cost of the pattern. And PDF patterns are typically cheaper than the traditional paper/tissue ones. Think of the first one you put together as a giant puzzle. Really not hard at all. Or borrow a child who's Lego/Bionocle adept.

Hi there are a couple of quick help videos explaining how to print pdf patterns at home and how to assemble them on the SewSewLive KZbin Channel. Find the Quick How To videos in the playlists, view the playlist and select the one you want to watch. Alternatively type SewSewLive how to assemble pdf pattern into the search box and it should find it for you. There are probably loads of other people doing similar how to videos on KZbin also if you search in the search box. I'll be honest and say, I am fine with taping together a pattern with a few sheets but a pattern with 50 odd pages is not for me.....I'd rather pay for the A0 copy shop print in that case.

I really love these patterns, but I have been looking for nightgown patterns for ages. They don't seem to be as popular, maybe that could be a top 10 vid?

What fabric works well for pyjamas? I have had the Carolyn PJ's pattern for ages but have been dithering about what fabric to use

Cotton or Cotton blend wovens (even quilting cottons work), polyester blends, fancy you can use silks, silk-linen blends.... even Liberty of London cottons. Cotton fleece would be warm and cozy (light to mid-weight) the pattern packets give critical fabric recommendations for the patterns to account for ease, etc. Experiment!
