Few recommendations you can add backup script to push the backup to s3 . Also add a teams/email notifications in the script to be more useful for monitoring for a certain conditions

Not easy. You need to network with people alot. Show your skills to the world then you might get. But you can get in cloud engineering and then transition in devops.
