Definitely the clincher, although the Enter the Dragon Challenge fight was against some kid who was faking he knew martial arts on the set, most people that saw Bruce's response were embarrassed by his actions. Apparently he did not read enough Spider-man comics.

+Cody Townsend ... I disagree with Bruce's philosophy, for 1 his philosophy got him killed at a very young age. but 2nd, he had a famous line, " Be water my friend " you're a human being. you're not water. and the sad part is you have these grown men, who are following the man. I would say. grow up and get a life. Bruce wasn't all that. that's just a bunch of movies he has. with not 1 professional karate championship trophy.

If He stepped inside an UFC octagon with heavyweights ( disregarding the weight limits of each category ) He would lose, and lose bad. He was very fast indeed but there is a lot of myth around Him..... So brutal, amazing, like lighting a match with those nunchuks, yes but someone like Dos Santos would send Him back to China with a kick or two. ( My humble opinion not stating it to be true )

idurisu I know, but he still made it up, it’s his style; what he used. I heard in a documentary that one of the main principles of the JKD was to make it up as you go and do what suits you the best, fights in real life won’t go exactly as rehearsed in the training room so learn the basics and foundations as much as you can so you can make up the style as you go (I’m probably wrong though I’m not quite sure if it was JKD or some other martial arts style, I don’t have a lot of room to talk about here, I’m just saying some thoughts)

I do believe his stand up would be the best in the world, but he would have to learn the ground game better, which I have no doubt he would easily master. Wouldn't surprise me that if in an alternate reality Bruce fought in mma, that he would likely end up being at least a 3 weight class world champion. I just don't think anyone would be able to cope with his speed mixed with his strength, it's just unreal. And clearly his IQ and reaction time is off the charts too. Would be the most interesting fighter to watch for sure. No other martial artist has captivated the world to his extent.

Ursella Levias. Please stop. Wake up. You don't know what you're talking about. Lee was the Hong Kong interschool boxing champion of 22 high schools at age 18 ( that's an adult male physique..age 18 ). He only trained with gloves on..for that competition, for 5 months...and won. He was in hundreds of street fights in Hong Kong from age 12 to 18...often several fights per day. He was thrown out of LaSalle high school in Hong Kong for all the fighting. Often he was in fights with chains and knives. He traveled around in a gang then for a few years. In one of his last fights he broke the other guys jaw AND arm....and police were summoned to his parents home and he was almost sent to jail. How many pro MMA fighters can you name that have EVER broke an opponents jaw AND arm, in a fight? I'll answer that for you: NONE. Lee was doing that at 17 and 18 with bare fists. That is why his father sent him out of Hong Kong at age 18 and to the USA....because he didn't want Lee ending up in jail. He also as attested by MANY witnesses, won all streetfights and challenge fights he had here in the states...and there are at least 30 of those we know of. And most of those were against bigger taller opponents. The best, top martial arts champions of the 1960's sparred with Lee and got slaughtered. The best of them,(many) such as Joe Lewis and Olympic gold medalist champion for Judo, Hayward Nishioka...have stated in video interview how incredible Lee's abilities, attributes, power speed, explosiveness was. That he was possibly, pound for pound one of the strongest people in the world. And that Lee toyed with them. The best Karate champions of that time took private lessons FROM LEE. His attributes were freaky and olympic level or better regarding a few. Film footage shows a 8.5 punch per second maximum speed. His explosive cannon like power in punches and kicks were and are legendary. Joe Lewis got tagged by Lee on the daily and said so. He also said, " And though he only weighed about 140 pounds, he had the punching power of a heavyweight." His closing the gap speed has been timed by counting film frames shows that he could close the gap on an opponent from 6 feet out in 5/100ths of a second. That is .05 of a second. That is 1/20th of a second. People who knew him said he was driven and smart, strategic and aggressive like no other. They said you would have to literally kill him to beat him because he would never quit..could never lose, like a dragon breathing fire. He beat everybody. He beat champion army boxers such as Daniel Lee...who said fighting Lee was like a bad dream...like you were moving in slow motion and couldn't even land one shot...like he was fighting a ghost. So, please don't be so obtuse. When every fighter who ever met the guy, such as the very top fighters of the day, say he was unbeatable and a freak of nature, gifted fighter, athlete, powerhouse, genius of strategy, focus and raging aggressiveness, explosive speed and intention, well there comes a point where you just listen and accept what they are saying. THEY would know... better than you...or me. Right? And you say he was just an actor? And was not a pro level fighter? Even Connor McGregor said in video interview, " If Bruce Lee were alive I have no doubt in my mind that he would have been world champion." Hear that? Think about that. Sugar Ray Leonard has said the same thing. These guys KNOW fighting. Trust them! And Bruce Lee KNEW fighting and was a fighter. A REAL fighter, in street fights...all his life. But you think because he was not in a pro MMA or martial arts competition, that he was not a top level fighter? OK. Think about this then: You are sitting in a living room with McGregor and three other top pro fighters when suddenly, a full grown lion strides into the room with no chain...nothing...and is stalking, pacing, growling. Now, you have, at that point in time, never seen that lion in a fight. Yet...you would just KNOW automatically, that lion would rip any fighter in that room, to shreds. Bruce Lee was like that. Get it now?

Ursella Levias. How do I know? It's on record at Lee's former high school that he won the boxing championships. There are several photos in black and white of Lee in the ring at those championshops with gloves on. Etc..etc. We know from his family and many others of his fights in Hong Kong not to mention his school expulsion records for fighting and that his parents sent him to the USA and why. We have MANY different people, witnesses, saying the exact same thing regarding fights Lee had here in the USA. The information doesn't contradict at all. That is saying something. There is video AND photo evidence of Lee training famous athletes and fighters such as Kareem Abdul Jabaar, competitive fighters and Karate Champions Mike Stone, Joe Lewis, Bob Wall, Judo Champion Hayward Nishioka, boxing champion Dan Lee and etc.,etc., etc. We have video interviews of many of those greats saying Lee could punch them in the face or kick them at will during sparring and that Lee was the fastest human they ever saw. Joe Lewis for one of many. Fighters have HUGE egos and never like to admit they lose in anything fight related. You say it's just " word of mouth" . Really, dumb dumb? Why would pro fighters admit to being nailed over and again by some little guy who was, ( in your words) just some actor? And we have video proof of Lee's physical attributes of freakish speed and power and explosiveness and foot work, closing the gap speed, hand speed, dexterity, flexibility etc., etc., etc., etc., etc....... ( How many one finger and thumb push ups, on ONE hand...going all the way down until your nose touches the floor...on each rep.....can YOU do son? I'll tell you the answer. The same amount all the great fighters, champions, athletes who were taught by and who sparred with Lee could do....NONE. And that's just one attribute ( strength ) of Lee's MANY that were beyond anyone else around. Wake up and stop denying the obvious.

No one has ever come close to the speed/brutal force and technique(not in the formal standard of one specific type of fighting) but in the overall no rules street fighting. No one comes close. No one will ever come close. I am sick of people saying oh it was just his movies that gave somewhat of a false perspective of his true skill and unbelievably unmatched technique. Bruce was as close as it came to a superhuman as it gets. Thank you. - JKD obsessed martial artist along with Wing Chung Jui Jitsu Wrestling and Muy Thai. Long live the immortal dragon.

I've always been a fan of Bruce Lee. I grew up watching every movie and every documentary about him millions of times and still do, never get tired of watching his clips. And I still get saddened that he passed away too soon. He was a legend indeed, a one of a kind, a true master at martial arts. If anyone had the privilege to be in his presence what an honor that must've been. And, I cannot forget his son Brandon either. What a shame losing them both.

one of the most common comebacks from haters is that he was not a fighter because he had no fight record. what a fucking stupid thing to say. that wasn't his goal. he never trained to professionally fight people in a ring. he trained to be the best, and he was. he could demonstrate it in other ways than to purposely knock out a man in a ring. he showed that qualified opponents could not land a punch on him do to his speed and reaction time. he showed that he could easily take anyone to the ground. he showed that he had ridiculously incredible strength. there was no need for him to enter fighting competitions. it wouldn't have been fair to the other person.

MMA and UFC champions wouldn't stand a chance against Bruce Lee, come on guys, be realistic for a second.. I'm a BIG fan of UFC, but even the best guys in the octagon are never blurry.. Why? Because they simply can't get that level of velocity, it's inhuman! Bruce Lee on the other hand had to SLOW DOWN for the camera to catch him moving at all!!! How insane is that?!? I know what you trolls are thinking; but dude, the cameras are better now.. And while this is true, the standard of 24 FPS (Frames Per Second) have been the same since 1927 when the first cinematic films with actual dialog came out! Furthermore.. How many MMA, UFC champion or any other martial artist for that matter, do you really think have custom made heavy bags? Answer: Probably less than 1 that is still living.. That 1 sadly is dead, named Bruce Lee, and he had metal - I repeat - METAL(!!!) in his heavy bag!! So please, just stop yourself and try to think for just 1 second before smashing your head against your keyboard.!

I love the way you ended that Simon, how he's god's bodyguard now. In life, he got respect, but like the philosophy goes, you don't know what you have until it's gone....he got even more respect in death, once everyone realized how 'one of a kind' he was. If it wasn't for you, I, and countless other kids, teens and adults would have never be so inspired to make not only your body and skills better, but to also do the same with the way you approach everything with your mind as well. Life throws punches too, and it's all about intercepting the fists from life as well as those from physical threats. I feel sad when I truly realize and understand.... this world will never, ever see someone like you again, but if you see just a bit, that person is lucky to have watched, and listened to you . R.I.P Bruce. You've been a hero and role model for me since childhood, among many others. Big love!!!

vietorkoreen At the risk of sounding nerdy, he did train with chi, he tested just about everything in fact. He used internal chi as opposed to external which he found no use for. Internal would rush to different parts of his body to deliver more impact or hardness of skin. I have a book on it but it is the only document I have found of him talking about chi. He much bigger into practicality than magic lol.

bryanzellar No, buddy, he did not train with Qi. He didn't believe in Qi. He questioned Chinese understanding of Qi. There is internal energy, sure, but it isn't mystic bullshit. Hardening skin and more impact? Prove it. I want to see scientific proof of this. Why has no one in the world shown any proof of this incredible mystic power? Bruce believed in Qi so much that he lifted weights? Fuck your book.

He wasnt superhuman, it was all training. Intense training. Some people train their brains some their bodies. This kind of training requires austerity, i dont have a better word for it in English but in sanskrit we call it tapas. In India we believe that we're all beyond this mind and this form, its just a matter of realizing it. If you realise your real self nothing is impossible for you. Train your mind to have that will first because thats what holds us back. Its about training your mind and body to work for you and not be their slave instead. When bruce lee said be like water thats what he meant, the rigidity we learn in this world is what holds us back from realising our full potential both physically and mentally. He was such an inspiring person.

As much as I would like to believe this, I can't come to grips with some of these claims. For example, 'doing 50 one-armed pullups with ease'. That's impossible, isn't it? And I find it hard to believe that he did the coin trick from 'a few feet away'. So although the fact remains that Bruce Lee was amazing I think some of these reasons may have been exaggerated somewhat. Also (although I don't necessarily believe this one), I read somewhere that they actually sped UP not DOWN Lee's speed in certain films. But as I said, I'm not too sure how true this is.

And his martial art Jeet Kune do even the concepts are not new but He was the one to really bring that idea to the mainstream To look at the various different fighting styles and only use the most effective methods. Now was Bruce Lee a great fighter ? That is pretty much unknown. There are stories of him fighting kung fu masters on roof tops. I have seen a few shaky clips but who were these master and effective was there style ? Then there is a story of Bruce Lee wrestling with Gene Lebell . As the stories goes Gene took to the ground and put him hold neutralizing his punching and kicks. He asked Gene to teach him grappling after that. I would say Bruce Lee had the potential to be a great fighter

***** Here it is: *AT THE TIME*, Bruce was indeed superhuman compared to others. Just like the strongmen of *that era*. Bruce was doing unheard of things for a person of his stature! His strength to weight ratio was completely off the charts for men of his size - rivaling or surpassing taller and heavier individuals. Today? Of course our advances and understanding in nutrition, medicine, recovery, training, and martial arts knowledge - would put the Bruce of today, leap years ahead of the old Bruce. He'd probably be a few inches taller and twenty to thirty pounds heavier with bone and muscle density.

Chase, how do you know he was an amazing fighter? He never entered any tournaments. He has no officially recorded fights. His claimed fights are nothing more than rumors.

Bruce undersrood the inner workings of the human body, physics and optimization. So him being the quickest human being ever coupled with probably being the best martial artist and incredibly honed and hardened body that many claimed felt like steel. He didn't punch "at targets" but "through" targets, as if it would scratch the surface but explode the inside. With his technique and all time great reflex, speed, and knowledge of the human body. I dont doubt for a second any fighter he fights from 100-300lbs would be beat easily and he wouldnt be scratched for the most part, because he would exploit the weakness of every fighter and him being the quickest and most accurate fighter alive would probably hit every pressure point of your body in less than a second and his stength is equal to 200lbs+ men (strongest 135lbs man ever) coupled with his street fighter mentality.

Instantly recognized the narrator as that bald bloke Simon from the you tube channels biographics and mega projects. I came upon this video in a completely unrelated manor to my interest in biographics. I respect this man's ambitious and meaningful efforts across this platform. I would very much enjoy the opportunity to share a drink with him some time to converse on literally any event in history.

Catching a grain of rice out of the air is one of those things that you try very hard at, if at all. I was the same way until one night at my partner in crime's house. Back when we had a business together, we'd eat dinner together almost every day. One night we grabbed some Chinese from a food truck & ate back at his place. We'd been drinking & when we were almost finished a house flew right in from of me. As it was going over my right shoulder, I snapped my hand up as a joke pretending to catch a fly w/chopsticks. Well I had actually accomplished just that. Caught it by the head. After that we practiced catching grain of rice which turned out to be a lot easier than you'd think. Try it out
