Of the 3 months I spent in Ecuador last winter, the saddest day of all was not when I left to return to Canada but when I left Vilcabamba to go to Cuenca then back to the coast. The place is magical and I knew the first morning I woke up at Izhcayluma that this place was special.

About point #2, we have a lot of good ideas and opportunities but we found out that being a foreigner here and open a business (or start any initiative) is difficult without having a "local front" person dealing with administrative stuff for us. I mean, not because we can't get these infos, but more because locals (i.e. ecuadorians) don't wanna deal with gringos. What is your experience dealing with local providers and finding useful (and often hidden) informations about permits etc.? This would be an interesting subject for a future video! :) Thanks for sharing your experience.

I think its just understanding the culture and the how's of how to go about it, I don't find Ecuadorians don't want to deal with foreigners at all! Thanks for the topic suggestion, it went on the list!

Hey guys. Loved how you express about my home country. I moved to the Netherlands for studies and then work 6 yrs ago, and I can say I really envy your lifestyle in EC. I wish I could freely go back and enjoy life just how you do it, but reality is that I'm away from EC because I want to support my family back there and I can only do it with the income I get abroad. Also I wanted to point out that you're very lucky to have friends and family visiting not only for a few days, but for months! I cannot even manage to get the visa approved for my mom such that she can visit me here in Europe for a very short and expensive stay. The bottom line: you're very privileged having migrated from a developed country to EC, and then being able to enjoy the warmth of the people and the natural beauties we have. The only thing I ask is: please, do not exploit the locals and make sure you give just as much as you receive (if not more). Peace!

Hey guys, its been about 15 years since I was last in Vilcabamba. I've been there 5 or 6 times for several weeks at a time. I will be returning in a few more months - permanently this time. It was awesome then, and, from what I can see and understand, there are a number of restaurants that have opened and some other convinces in town, but it was 'magical' to me then and that is why I've planned for years to return.

Bought a spot in briceño, after numerous visits and hanging in the country for a few months, I’ve made the decision to make the move. Love the area, the people and the vibes. Best wishes.

As an Ecuadorian all I can ask of you is please become an investor, get the public insurance (IESS) both are great ways to give back to a poor country that has welcome you like one of it’s own. Become an entrepeneur to create jobs, join IESS because here is where the retired people of Ecuador get their paychecks from and as of right now there isn’t enough income to cover everyone because lack of jobs, to you is only 80$ a month, to us is the difference between our grandparents going to sleep with an empty stomach and them not. Thanks. Very informative and interesting. So is Vilcabamba more for family life or singles? I'm a single man looking for a laid-back rural life but not in a large family setting. Being single I would prefer a area similar to Senior communities or more geared to the single lifestyle of any age.
@AbundantLivingEcuador9 ай бұрын
It has everything, retirees, families, singles, I wouldn't say its predominantly any of those.

Moving for health reasons is moving there , moving due to health concerns is another matter , which unfortunately would come under disease management. Health is about adopting the biological conditions that support and maintain life which is why I'd want to move there imho ✨🙏 Well said Carl 💯👊✨ Barring accidental emergencies local knowledge is good enough.

Good news for expats in Ecuador. Peruvian Police arrested one of the murderer of Villavicencio within the next hours he went across our border -> Bryan Maza Pardo. We love how good our police works.

I love your podcast and plan on coming to Vilcabamba as soon as possible. In LA now, and formally Maui which was more of my kind of community which has been burning. What a tragedy. How are the fires and other earth changes there being manifested?

Thanks for the comment! We haven't seen any wackiness here in terms of earth changes to date.

I am not there yet, what may make me consider to move when I finally have moved is if my company would be subjected to extorsion or if the politics goes really too far left.

How's the sky from the above spraying? I can't tell if it's hazy in this video... how bad has the spraying been overhead above the Loja province?

They essentially don't spray here. It's one of the great reliefs/joys of the area, you get to look up and see normal/blue skies!

The ladies are great. Great video guys. We are running a few months behind due to our specialty in schooling. Questions? Can you buy Tofu in any store in Vilcabamba? Can you buy fresh corn tortillas there? Fresh Shrimp? Other than that your explanations are great. Val and myself Glenn look forward to our arrival. Thank you both.

Hi guys. Are you seeing people leave, now. Alot of bad press. Ecuador is on BBC news almost every day. I get questions or extreme concerns about EC expressed. Are Expats picking up , leaving ?
@AbundantLivingEcuador Жыл бұрын
Not at all, life here is amazing and unchanged, where we are literally. The news sensationalizes everything and there’s a wide gap between news and reality on this and probably in general. We have seen some folks scared off from coming, but they haven’t been and don’t live here so it’s understandable. Thanks for the question.

I'm in matrix-Europe and have stopped watching and reading mainstream "news" a very long time ago!! The news I get is what I experience and, knowing colonial Europe as it is now.(still -it's clearly just been on 'hold' for some years - nothing new here), makes Ecuador heaven 💓

"Reciprocal".... Boy, there's a word that has long been on my favorites list. Too bad most people in the U.S. don't get it. I'm 67 and in pretty good health, except I've been having some blood pressure issues over the past year. "Alleviate stress," they tell me. How am I supposed to do that with the miserable circumstances I find myself living with here in the U.S. where everyone is a PSYCHO?! There is no peace of mind here!
@proyectonuevo7487 Жыл бұрын
Expatriate friends, if you take a lifestyle similar to the residents of Vilcabamba, I mean food, physical exercise, less stress etc, you will hardly have the need for a hospital, rarely, perhaps if a routine annual checkup, many expats who pass 65 years old already come to Vilcabamba with health problems from their countries of origin.
