Have lived in Cairns for a few years in 90's. Great scenery but humidity kills you. Stingers at beach can kill you too. And the crocodiles. Paradise has its downsides.

I think you’ve forgotten about CYCLONES … that’s why real estate is 2-3 times more expensive on the Gold Coast. Lower humidity, no stingers and no crocodiles.

Very few “ Whingers” too… most people who leave Cairns didn’t really have their head around “ Cyclone Season”….. harden up , Princess….. “ it’s a wet heat” !

Hey mate, There are plenty of casual jobs around. This is peak backpackers season so it might take a while to find a job but it sure is a good place to live once you secure a job :)
