Looks like some new additions might have to be made soon, Paytons 55 TD season, Lamar Jacksons 3000/1000 season, the most recent 1000/1000 club member McCaffery, and Calvin Johnson’s 1900 yard season. Edit: I think we add Cooper Kupp's 2022 season if for nothing else than he had 1900 yards on SEVENTY-FIVE% catch percentage. Just like Santa Clara county where the 49ers,& Stanford-have to move out of the state. Despite the NFL's top doctor saying there hasn't been 1 case on earth, of someone contracting COVID, on the athletic field-indoor, or outdoor. And of all these athletes whove tested positive, has 1 of them been hospitalized..let alone died? Not that I know of.The rest of us have to stay home (understandable to a point),& watch top 10 lists, but the politicians get to do whatever the f#&k they want, flagrantly violate their own dictates,& increase their power/feed their ego..using COVID as an excuse. And Im not a COVID denier..it is real. I support wearing masks, social distancing, ect. I have 2 elderly uncles, who died from COVID. When Largent broke his TD record it was like wow. That record felt untouchable. And he could've put it out of reach for awhile longer had the Pack wanted to pay him. @fortynights1513 Жыл бұрын
@@Gungho73 Not only that, but he also held the records for receptions and receiving yards when he retired, and held them until the next great Packer receiver, Billy Howton passed them in 1962 (possibly their best player in the 50’s).
@Gungho73 Жыл бұрын
@@fortynights1513 Didn't know that about Howton actually! Yeah the general public doesn't understand how absurdly far beyond Hutson was to everyone in the league in that point. The Packers didn't want to pay him and granted he was getting later in his career but you could feel the shift the second that decision was made. Few decisions in history can be immediately linked to a franchises decline like that one was.
@fortynights1513 Жыл бұрын
@@Gungho73 Billy Howton on a side note, in spite of retiring with the most receptions and receiving yards in 1963 (though both were quickly passed by Raymond Berry) is not in Canton. Howton played with Babe Parilli who had a good career, and a rookie Bart Starr as his best quarterbacks. It seems counterintuitive now, but given that many schemes were smashmouth based through the 1980’s, quarterbacks who threw a lot of passes and for a lot of yards, and receivers who caught a lot of yardage worth of passes were called unimpactful if they got those numbers and their teams didn’t perform, because voters argued that they only had the numbers they did because the game wasn’t well managed and their teams were losing. Given that we call quarterbacks game managers, it may hold some water in their analysis, but it doesn’t mean the receivers weren’t doing their jobs well, even if in losing efforts. Howton and the 70’s Ram receiver Harold Jackson (who similarly retired second all time in receiving yards in 1983) both ultimately have the most receiving yards in their respective decades, and neither made the all decade team of the 50’s or 70’s, or Canton because of this perception by voters at the time. Ultimately those are the only two receivers in the top 15 of career receiving yards through 1985 that aren't in Canton, and in my opinion both have been overlooked and snubbed.

Certainly an amazing season on Barry’s part. I’d also throw in Walter Payton in 1977 who led the league in rushing yards, yards per carry, yards from scrimmage, and rushing touchdowns, and won an MVP. For as mid as Barry Sander’s offensive lines were, in 1997 he had a pro bowl center at least, and his team’s top receiver was also an all pro unlike Payton’s. Payton in 1977 had no player on his offense other than himself get any individual recognition that year, and in fact none of his teammates would ever win an individual accolade in their career.

@Harry Engel IDK how Reggie and Walter aren't on here already bro, it's crazy LOL but I think Mahomes will be on herd for a couple of reasons, even though it isn't the record breaker: 1. He's the only other player to have that season besides Manning in 2013 - 50+ TDs and 5k+ yards 2. He DOES have the record currently for most TDs at this point in their careers, beating even Marino. That's amazing 3. It was his FIRST starting season! LOL it's ridiculous that he was THAT good THAT early. It took Manning 15 years of playing to get that season. Mahomes did it his first time out 🤷🏾♂️ that's unfathomable
