I believe it's actually illegal in many countries for a restaurant to serve pufferfish. In countries where it is not, chefs must go through rigorous training to learn how to properly prepare the meal so it won't kill the person who consumes it. The trouble is, if the chef makes a small mistake the person dies. Many chefs in these countries don't want to do the training because of the difficulty involved, and the extreme stress that comes with knowing they could be serving someone's final meal.

there are too many of them that they make a big part of natural food cycle. and only 3 types of mosquitoes drink blood, while most others don't. the only way I can think of to kill them is if we (humans) start engineering biological weapons that target and kill specific species, but then PETA and Vegans and other anti-human groups would protest this.

Scientists have made minor adjustments to the genetics of some of the disease carrying species of mosquitoes. These adjustments make them far more likely to have male offspring. (The females are the only ones that bite humans to drink their blood.) The genes that were edited are carried by the male offspring, so with each new generation the numbers of males with the gene increases greatly, and these males will seek out the ever decreasing number of females in the wild until almost none are left. The populations this method has been tested on are already showing a sharp decline.
