Another stadium not mentioned in this video was the proposed West Side Stadium in New York City for the New York Jets. It was basically all set to go until Madison Square Garden blocked construction. The Jets ended up partnering with the Giants and built MetLife Stadium.

6:52 When the White Sox move to Nashville, it's suggested that the MLS Chicago Fire FC should play their home games at Guaranteed Rate Stadium. Meanwhile, the NFL Bears and UFL Enforcers might make their home games at Wrigley Field after Soldier Stadium is demolished.

6:03 In the event of a big storm sweeping in from the north, is it possible for Minnesota United FC/ Minnesota United 2 to relocate their home games to US Bank Stadium? This would help preserve the excitement of the game and ensure the safety of both players and spectators.

Should look deeper into the Sonics. There was a proposal at one point to build an arena on a pier. I believe it was also supposed to have a retractable roof. All I really remember is the pier and that former Sonic "Downtown" Freddy Brown was involved in the whole deal.

I can't believe I never heard the rumor about the Twins moving to North Carolina since I've lived here all my life. After googling it now I see I was like 5 when it happened and I read some people think they had no intentions to actually sell to guy in NC. It was only a bargaining point to try and leverage the other options. Which the fact that this team would move from a giant city in Minnesota and move between two midsized North Carolina cities sounds very unlikely to begin with. NC has a total of 1 city that could be called a true big city and that's Charlotte. Even the capital of Raleigh is only about a large midsized city. So the fact they said the new Major league team would be two hours from Charlotte, an hour from Raleigh, and between two cities that have zero history of supporting a team of any size makes it seem very unlikely it would have really happened. (But if it did I would have been 10 times the baseball fan I am. Local college basketball, and an NHL team relatively close to me in Raleigh and then NFL and NBA in Charlotte made me watch them more.... given the hornets have sucked forever and the Panthers were just bought by a corporate "I am never wrong, my way or the high way, if you fail with no time or leeway to succeed then you suck but any success is because I am great" kind of a-hole that makes me hope the panthers move because I don't want that type of terrible self-righteous person to succeed. But those are rants for another time.)

A bit of this is that Carl Pohlad didn't move the team into the Metrodome, so he could always play the card that it wasn't "his choice" to play there. (It wasn't a problem when they were winning World Series, of course) By the point the news came out that the Twins might move there, a lot in the Twin Cities wanted to call his bluff. The fact that the referendum in NC failed showed there wasn't much interest in the team anywhere. By this point, Pohlad just wanted the $$$ from selling the team, nothing more. It's why he wanted the cash for MLB to contract the team.
