That point about an engineering degree teaching you analysis, not design, is so true! And so many engineers just want to sit and crunch analysis, without thinking about if the design is smart in the first place.

I found your video via Reddit and I have to say it's very well done, informative and funny. You have a cool background story too. I am a diy shade tree dummy, figuring out how I'm going to design a cheap stand for big rolls of packing bubble wrap for a non profit that I volunteer for, with materials that I already have. Your video did help reaffirm my thinking that I should use an engineering/design firm, rather than going straight to a contractor for a big project I'll need to do at my house. Thanks!

Hi...excuse my manners but I saw you saying something like you're a mechanical engineering student. I just became a mech engineering student to and would love to know you more.

I am so happy I learn 3d modeling in high school. I took biomedical engineering in college and was always picked on projects for my design skills. Ive been a mech design engineer for a large contact lens manufacture for 3 years now. GD&T and drawing sop was one thing that I had to learn and have found out that it is critical. Learning metrology has also been a big help

If you can ask a tool maker for their opinion. ALWAYS do it. Just because you can make it in CAD doesnt mean it is the right way to make it.

When we pick up a platic product we see ridges that reinforce the structure and reduce the amount of proct used ABS etc. Is there a discipline these techniques come under. Fantastic ammount of experience thanks for your help.

I didn't understand this, I am working on a mechanical project. I just want to know how you are working on the design project from starting to the final product deliverable. it will be very helpful if you can suggest sometimes.

Sir, your account is full of informative videos . It would better if you could do tutorials and courses on engineering skills. Because all other channels are mainly focusing on software engineering and coding.

I agree!! I understand software and digital technologies are the wave but I feel like mechanical engineering doesn't get the kind of love and publicity it deserves. With software, almost every small thing is indexed and searchable and in most cases is freely open. With mechanical design it feels like shots in the dark and stumbling processes. And then once you attain a certain level of knowledge it's like you either only ever find the absolute basics or the most esoteric things. There's a channel called star rapid that's a rapid prototyping company and they've been great in bridging that gap between absolute basics and the more niche topics. Check them out as well! There's also tarkka but they upload veeeerryyy slowly

Non design engineers always say fuck the engineer that put this wear part in a tough location. So always walk through the maintenance of a part that has pm.

Thank you for the video! It really helps! Is there any book to help me understand better all the variables involved in the design process? I want to become a design engineer but the only step made till now was to begin learning a design tool. Thank you!

We all learn differently, I couldn't point to any one source. However the tech schools do expose students to mechanical design theory along with the CAD tools. I'm hands on and driven to learn everything I could related to my various missions. Once in the industry or in a mentoring program (Like FIRST FRC), watching how professionals dissect their projects from program/project management, to deliverables and installations result in awareness of all the aspects of design.

Thank you I think we can shall may vphv understand the importance truth and value of mechanical engineering components ( like front wheel axles etc., ) nature of materials their analogy ( with elements or sense organs like eyes nose etc., ) the change in nature strength or plasticity with loading unloading etc , practical uses in daily life and design at any cost............and also last but not least appreciate and thank god mother nature for gifting us with precious organs atleast once in a day or thrice at any cost................
