When I was a kid, we travelled to Prague with my grandparents every year. Remember watching the construction works on the TV tower... Later, after the year 2000, I moved to Prague to study and the tower was always the 1st place to visit when I had a girl visiting me. People already get used to it... Now, I can't imagine Prague without the Žižkov Tower.

Thanks for the inside info on the "Egg". I live near Albany and this is a stand-out construction that has always been popular with the public. It gives the city an interesting vibe and the entire Plaza, where it stands, is quite the tourist attraction with many facinating sculptures.

I do agree about the Ziskov tower - it truly is an eyesore in architecturally beautiful Prague. It literally is a sore thumb. But the other buildings are amusing in their own way. I actually like the Atomium in Brussels - been there and enjoyed it. It is quite a way out from the city center if I remember correctly so you really have to want to see it to make the trip.

I applaud your channel! You are creating very interesting content, with many interesting and surprising choices. You are probably not hurting for ideas, but here are two or three: 10 most anthropomorphic structures in US, 10 best Egyptian Revival edifices in US, 10 slenderest buildings in US. Keep up the good work. It is appreciated!

I live about 45 minutes from the Longaberger basket building in Newark, Ohio and had the pleasure of working in it on a contract job some years ago. During Longaberger’s heyday it was no less controversial, but it was beautiful inside and out, and is much larger than expected when it comes into view while driving there.

You missed the Museo Soumaya in Mexico City. Should've made the list. BTW: There are other sculptures in Prague of those crawling babies from artist David Cerny. The best ones are along the Vltava River, across from the Old Town. The Zizkov Television Tower may be an ugly eyesore, but David Cerny's babies creepy creeping babies are awesome in a whimsically nightmarish sort of way.

As for #10, I'll never, EVER understand architects' fascination with exposed, unpainted concrete. It's ugly, and gets even uglier as times goes by. They seem to be the only ones who like it, too: I have never heard one single person saying they like walls with exposed concrete. What is up with that?
@benwahl398921 күн бұрын
#10 might look better if it had a red brick facade with ivy crawling up the walls and the picnic basket, could it be renovated into a hotel or apartments?

#10 You have no idea what an eye sore this “castle” is. This apartment is in Grandville, Michigan a vicinity of Grand Rapids. There are no other tall buildings so as you drive down I96 it suddenly appears and it looks hideous. By the way, it is not affordable.
@TheWokeWarlockАй бұрын
You make it sound like they just unceremoniously ripped up the graveyard and dumped it all in a pile outside of town. In reality, they were carefully and very ceremonially MOVED to a new cemetery, preserving and restoring headstones in the process. Words matter. You should choose yours more carefully…
@BuildingTalesАй бұрын
So you agree they dug up a cemetery to build a tower, not sure where we disagree…
@TheWokeWarlockАй бұрын
@@BuildingTales don’t be obtuse to support a narrative. You state: “Unceremoniously dug up, and Hauled away” Which inherently implies mishandling or desecration of said graveyard. Which isn’t the case. Graveyards have been moved since antiquity. It isn’t a new phenomenon. When moved, it is done with care, precision, and with preservation and restoration in mind. Just because you may disagree with the moving of said graveyard, does not mean it was done with malice or disregard. We don’t disagree on the historical record, we disagree on the substantive message of that one section of your video. But it is your video, and therefore your narrative. Just don’t be obtuse to support it…
@TheWokeWarlockАй бұрын
@@BuildingTales overall great video 👍🏼 you included several structures that usually don’t make these lists and I thought your top 10 was super solid.
