I wish the blue shell from NSMB DS got on there. It has the same slide as the penguin suit but without needing ice to slide forever, it bounces you off walls while sliding, makes you invincible while sliding, and gives you invincibility to enemies while hiding stationary in your shell

The Fire Flower is pretty great, but it should be made a bit more obvious the Penguin Suit is way better. Instead of stopping at one enemy, frozen enemies phase through and can go through multiple. The slide and swim mechanics also make the Penguin Suit a direct upgrade in terms of mobility. However, the Fire Flower is more versatile, but still.

I think that the blue shell is really good you can just zoom across a lot of the level while simultaneously defeating just about every enemy you see, it's a win-win

The giga cat bell is for me the best if your on a normal level not only you can destroy anything but also you have cat Mario's abilitys and any enemy is just instant death for them

I feel like the giga bell is criminally low. Considering it’s WAY bigger than the mega mushroom, and it can resist the black goo and fury bowser, while the superstar, and invincible bell (which scales to the invincible leaf) cannot. Mario’s practically a Lion God in this form.

gold leaf/bell is perfectly fine because you have the option of not getting it if you want to learn naturally. it can't make the game worse if you're the one who chooses to use it

Mega mushroom can be held in your inventory in new Super mario bros (DS), you have to get it from a toadhouse and then you can use it in the entire level.

Well, actually the 3d land superleaf would be number 1 as it brings you strait to the end of a level without any effort except dying 20 times and hitting the golden block that then appears

@@iisomari no in SM3DL the invincibility superleaf appears when you die 5 times consecutively in a level if not complete and only for base worlds' levels, while the P-Wing appears when you die 20 times with same conditions. The invincibility superleaf turns you into White Tanooki Mario/Kitsune Luigi, making you invincible to everything except lava and falling over, and it reverts back to normal Tanooki/Kitsune after completing that level. Meanwhile the P-Wing allows you to fly straight to the flag pole of that level without giving and power up.

the instant wing was one you might have forgot or left out on purpose. In mario 3d land you would get it after about 25 tries and it would instantly transport you to the end of the level.

I personally disagree with the opinion about the white tanooki suit. I’m incredibly inexperienced at video games but recently started playing 3d world. Once you get to the end of the game it becomes really challenging, especially for people who aren’t good at video games, and the suit is incredibly helpful to get through a stage so you aren’t sitting there getting annoyed because you keep dying.

The invisibility leaf is not fully invincible because in super Mario 3-D world The invincibility Leave Cannot kill Bowser with the cat power up

but the problem for those golden power up is that once you use at least once in a game save file you will lose the secret achievement from that point. to try to get it if that happens, delete and repeat passing all levels without using that power up. didn't you see that one coming!? lol

The P acorn. It is like the god leaf for #1, free exit to a stage and u can fly forever with it. However it is only obtainable in the New super Mario bros U and New super Mario bros U deluxe for switch. You must catch a Nabbit to get the item

I'm surprised Metal Cap ins't in the list, It's more durable than the Super Star and White Tanooki (which can be harm by lava or poison, and Metal Cap doesn't) let Mario breath underwater, which is very valuable depending on the game, he can't swim but he can walk normally underwater, and like the Super Star, have an awesome music playing while in that form, idk if i would put it above Super Star and White Tanooki, because they improve other stuff like speed, higher jump, versatility in the case of the star that can stake with other stuff, and white tanooki can even fly, but it definetly should be top 3.

There is a glitch in bowsers fury where if you use the amibo for the invincibell, right in front of the giga bell, and you can collect them both at the same time, resulting in the invincible giga bell

I will say that objectively, the mega mushroom is more powerful than the star. Once when my sister and I were battling on New Super Mario Bros on the DS, I got a star and she got the Mega Mushroom. We were shocked at the rarity, and both ran into each other to see who would win. To my surprise, the Mega Mushroom kills you, even if you have a star.

I still hate how SM3DL nerfed the Tanooki suit removing both flying and statue form (even if they added the second one during postgame). At first I thought ”yes, maybe flying through a whole level 3D was too much, but they could've make that after you complete the base game Tanooki Mario could've been able to become a statue without making a copy paste power up” but after seeing Cat Mario OP abilities that makes even get a gold flag too easy I would've prefer they brought back the old Tanooki Mario without being nerfed and split in two power ups. Maybe since it's my favorite power up I'm a little biased, but I think it's unfair that we can use only Nerfed Tanooki Mario in SM3DW.

I think SMW cape is the most broken powerup, if you know how to fly properly, you can basically skip 90% of the levels. OFC im omitting, the White Tanooki, but it is supposed to be an accessibility tool for kids and people unfamiliar with video games.

I hate it when people disparage super guide stuff like the white raccoon suit. It's completely optional and helps younger / less experienced / people with less time / etc. people enjoy the game the way they want to. I personally used one of those maybe one time just to check it out. Then I chose to tough it out. But I'm the type of gamer that plays Dark Souls or tries to beat games on hard for trophies. My wife on the other hand, barely touches games. So I'm happy she can use features like that to enjoy the game at her pace.

I think its because the Propeller suit only gives you a single burst of upwards movement. The other flight-based abilities, while not giving as much instant upwards movement, benefit in that they not only have better glide mechanics, but they also have other forms of attack, whereas the Propeller only as the Screw-Dive. Also, once you use the Propeller's ability, Mario can't do much else, he's just stuck slowly descending, whereas the others naturally cancel your action.

NSMB2 3ds was my first Mario game and I sucked at Mario but I always refused to use the golden leaf because I felt if I used it I was cheating and would never improve. I am proud of my younger self
