@@TheBeardedITDad- I would love to switch to a job in IT. I’m even willing to take a slight pay cut for the opportunity. I have been applying for a large variety of IT positions, but haven’t been hired yet. I think I’m hindered because companies want - “work experience”. Nice video. What would you say are the best certs for landing a role as a SOC analyst, or an "entry level" security role? I have security+ and I'm looking at CYSA+ and Pentest+ next... While learning numerous other things on the side
@trumpisgod253526 күн бұрын
Best thing you could do is enlist in air force and go for one of their Cyber security roles as they give clearence and will lead to transitioning into Civilian roles. There is no “ entry level” cyber security roles. All of them will want to know what experience you have in IT and Networks etc. the second you say none they will look elsewhere. Why would anybody trust somebody with no or low IT experience with securing their company and resources potentially worth Billions to trillions of dollars.
@TheBeardedITDad26 күн бұрын
It depends on where you're at in your career. If you're already working in tech, I will start looking for the jobs and start seeing what some of their qualifications are. If you're not working in tech yet then I would really recommend start going after your first entry-level job. Look at a help desk before pursuing any other certifications so you can start building experience

As someone who actually has the AZ-900 cert, unless you get it for free DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. The cert is a joke. Basically all you're tested on (at least my test) is to classify whether something is paas, saas, iaas, ect. There is arguably nothing practical about it, it's just flashcard knowledge. Took me like 15 minutes to take the test.

I have to disagree here, my version of the exam felt a bit more difficult than I thought it would be as I got tested on more. Regarding practicality, I hope you weren’t expecting a six figure job right out the gate with only az-900 cert
