Tokyu Hands is a huge store in Japan that sells basically anything you can possibly need and want. It’s hard to pick only 10 items to buy because there are so many great products and I can spend DAYS in there, but these are definitely my favorites! I usually go to the Shibuya store but they have locations all over Japan!

I’m actually a fan of Tokyo Hand. It’s a must on my list everytime I visit Japan. I actually like to check out the bags in Tokyo Hand and find the selection in each location different from another. One time, I found a brand that offer bags mainly in heavy duty canvas bags which is the material that I really like. From then on, a bag section is another one I make sure I check it out. 😊 I haven’t tried the soap section. I’ll make sure I check it out during my next trip. 😊 Thank you very much!

Love Tokyu Hands! I replaced my old, worn out luggage over two vacations to Shinjuku. Brand names and decent prices (also duty free!). On the same floor, for example, they carry many other travel products, bicycles, wallets, etc...and even Christmas decorations during the holiday season. All this, plus a half dozen other floors!

Hi YuYu!! I am visiting tokyo for 1 week.. unfortunately today is my last day :( i went to tokyu hands and a lot of the items were expensive so i decided not to get anything. However, daiso was the jackpot! I bought out the whole store! Thank you for your videos 😁😁😁😁

Yeah Tokyu Hands has a lot of higher end stuff with higher price tags, that's why usually I hang out around the stationery area which isn't too bad. I hope you stocked up at Daiso! But everytime I think I shopped enough, I always end up feeling like I bought nothing after I get home lol 😂

Japan seems to be the only country in Asia that doesn't cater for the foreign market in relation to online purchasing and availability. I hope this changes in the future because it's cheaper to buy online if a majority of stores shipped outside of Japan. Shipping services are expensive and in many cases their websites are only in japanese. Korea seems to have hit the global market so why not japan?!
@TokiYuYu
@TokiYuYu 7 жыл бұрын
I agree. Not sure how to best put it, but Japan is really "conservative" in many ways and tend to stay in its bubble now. I also feel like people in Japan seem to shop in stores a lot more still - it may be my limited Japanese skills, but online shopping doesn't feel that much more convenient or easier, and not everything has an online shop.

When I went to Japan, I noticed Japanese people ar a lot enthusiastic about buying in real store, and there are a lot of original and creative productts and the consumer buy a lot (especially when it comes to anime goodies, you need to see animate). I think this kind of store don't have a relevant potential market overseas that's why Japanese companies prefer to stay in Japan. Even if these products seems amazing (in tokyu hands, Loft...) I don't think that it will work outside, Japan has a specific consumer behaviour/consumer interests which is not similar to foreign consumers so going overseas doen't seem that much attractive for japanese companies.

Love your retail videos Yu, great recommendations as usual 😊 Going to Japan for the first time in about 2 months - super hyped! As a video suggestion could you please do a tour of a KIDDYLAND store or of a character/themed cafe? Thanks!
@TokiYuYu
@TokiYuYu 7 жыл бұрын
I did a couple of character/themed cafe videos (one for Rilakkuma and one for Dragon Ball), the problem with that is that those are often limited time ones, rarely are they open permanently. It's usually a collaboration between a character and a cafe. Check out Tower Records cafe, they do collab with different characters all the time. I'll put Kiddyland on my to-film list!
