I got a U1. I walked around and played all kinds and brands of pianos. I don't have room for a grand. I returned to the U1 like 10 times. I didn't notice this. My wife and the salesperson said this. I couldn't stay away from it. I can't wait to get it in my home.

Hello. I am in the market of buying a used upright. I found a Yamaha m1e and a Kawai cx4, both in pretty great shape. Which one should I get?

Must add a key historic fundamental in the prologue of Yamaha .. their logo is 3 tuning forks that we even use today for piano tuning.

I am accomplished on the piano enough to be at the stage where I want to record a score of the music I am now playing by ear. I have played forever; never got theory til recently and oh my goodness, I've exploded. I want to arrange my own songs; I understand I need a midi keyboard to do so easily. I don't want to produce; I just want to create a score. any advice?

Funny, "quiet instrument", it is like "cloud computing" a marketing terms hoping to both dumb down and make more understandble, some more complex idea. For those who don't mind a few details, the "quiet instrument" is simply a synthesizer. So they 1) add a small computer (synthesizer or sampler) to your piano, add triggers to the keys so that it turns the synth note on and off when you play the piano, and they add a bar to the piano action, or similar, so that when you turn on "quiet instrument", the piano hammers stop hitting the strings/ piano stops working in the normal way. One thing I have noticed on Yahama Baby grands (GB1/ C1), with this feature installed, the normal piano playing is less good: the action does not work as well playing quietly, you will have more notes that do not play..... ...my advice, do not get any "quiet instrument", its actually a bad joke, rather, get a real piano, and get a real synth for control over volume -- cheaper!

I would say Yamahas pianos changed a lot through the years and sometimes quite noticeably. The U1/U3's tone has changed. The C series to CX series is a significant change in tone. The action seems the same but the body and tone are different. But the newer the Yamaha, the more toned down they are vs. the older ones however that doesn't mean the older ones are always "brassy" or "bright." You can find some really warm and mellow ones from previous eras. Play a lot if you're going for Yamaha because there are big differences in tone and feel among all pianos, even those with a "consistent" reputation like Yamaha or Kawai.

I heard that the current CX1 was released in 2012.. it has been 10 years, how often does Yamaha release a newer or updated version and do you expect the current CX line will be due for an update soon? TIA!
@benjaminsmith22872 жыл бұрын
No. The C went through a lot of updates and the sound became more mellow. 2012 is a recent update. There is a C3X Espressivo and that has different hammers and a slotted music stand. Perhaps more CX will get the C3X treatment. There are constant updates to Yamaha pianos, especially the hammers and tones (more rounded, more color, less "bright") through the years. The CX series will go on for many more years before any major updates and probably will still be called the CX. The CFX was just revised but it is still called the CFX. Some call it the CFX Mark 2.
