I grew up in the Thousand Oaks area (AKA TO), off of Wendy Drive. I was a long time resident. It was gorgeous back in the 70s, and early to mid 80s. Clean air, horses and sheep in the open fields, and generally friendly, respectful residents were the norm. The area really started to change in about 1990 (now the fields are filled with houses and condos); LA / San Fernando Valley started to move into the area. By the early 2000s it was not the same. Sadly it became over crowded with obnoxious people with more money than brains. Just this year, luckily just before the housing crash, I sold my home and moved to the Midwest. It may be cold here come the Winter, but the people in the Midwest are warm, kind and welcoming. I am very sad to see what happened to my hometown, but I have good memories from the past. And I loved what TO was, and my former life there, however, that is gone forever. For the record, the realtor in this video undoubtedly means well, but could be somewhat mistaken about travel times to the other attraction areas that he mentions in the video (getting to Santa Monica especially). Depending on the time of day, traffic getting to those area can be horrendous. I still miss it however, in my heart, the old TO will always be my hometown.

It's a nice place, but they are really strict about not taking photos and video there.

Nice video! I got an offer to move to Thousand Oaks but I have no idea of what a good salary would be, the cost of living tools give me huge numbers and very different. Do you have a video that can help about cost of living there?
@michaeltilford2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I do not, but thanks for the video suggestion. Determining whether a salary is good or not is going to be highly dependent on your particular situation. Your job field, your family situation, whether you are renting, or buying. Thousand Oaks is one of the more pricier areas within Ventura County, however, there are nearby cities with a much lower cost of living and within close distance to Thousand Oaks that may be an option if you choose to commute. Feel free to give me a call if you want to talk about it. 805-915-8441
