I know there aren't many Dean fans, but I liked his little one off scene with Rory in Doose's. It was nice to see that he was happy, had a family, and wasn't obsessed with Rory anymore. What Rory said to him was realistically awkward and sweet. It was one of my few favorite moments in the Revival.
@Stepje935 жыл бұрын
Agree. I don't understand why everyone hates Dean when he slept with Rory when he was married, but everyone loves Rory even though she is cheating on her boyfriend Paul and is sleeping with logan while he is engaged. She is a spineless and weak girl who lacks self respect. Dean is the only guy who treated her right, who was always there for her, who put effort in making her happy. Remember when Jess didn't want to go to the carnival because he didn't feel like it, but when he heard Dean would be there, he would go. Or when Logan 'had to blow off steam' after yet anoher dumb mistake he made. Dean would never to that
@bluemoonlight144 жыл бұрын
@@Stepje93 i disagree. At the beginning dean was good but then he became really toxic (I'm not saying that rory wasn't toxic either because she was) and the way he treated his wife while he was cheating with rory was awful. Because I do like her character over all.

Rory's always been like that, even Emily said it once, in the episode in which the 4 Gilmores have a dinner filled with fights, laughs and anecdotes, something like "You're very spoiled, its because you are an only child". She never ever ever asked Dean about him or his life, everytime they were toghether they talked about her and her problems. And what happened when she threw that huge tantrum over Mitchum telling her she didn't "had it". I don't know why Rory 10 years after is such a shock for many people when shes just the same dramatic person, and even if it was something new: not every main character has to be perfect or a role model.

The last four words were a dud because this revival comes 10 years too late. Had Rory just graduated college, been planning to go off beginning her stellar investigative career only to then discover she was pregnant, then it would be full circle to Lorelei. The pregnancy could either be seen as a roadblock to her long desired career or the beginning of a new independent life. Having Rory is what drove Lorelei to grow up and start living for someone else. Rory's baby would give her the same kick in the pants. Ten years later we would see her succeeding with a 9 year old in tow and perhaps torn between two great loves: the street-tough Jess or the reformed rich kid Logan. Instead we get a spoiled rich kid Rory who has spent the last 10 years living entirely for herself. Not to mention all the time wasted for Luke and Loralei. In 10 years of living together they never discussed marriage or kids? Seriously?

The final words felt like they didn't fit. Rory's storyline as a whole felt weird, like it was supposed to have happened in the 7th season and not nine years later. They didn't talk about the fact that Logan had proposed either. Paul was a weird edition and just made Rory seem like an even worse person, who would have experienced these things at 22, not 32. It felt like Sherman-Palladino stubbornly insisted on a storyline and an ending that didn't fit anymore. Don't get me wrong - I loved most of the moments on this top 10 - but they rightfully didn't include much of Rory's storyline. I loved Jess and Emily especially and the Life and Death Brigade scene was fun, though it did lead to her pregnancy, and he was engaged and she was in a relationship and she had said no to his proposal in season 7... you know what? Scratch that. It was a fun scene, but the context was really bad

In the original series when you get to the last episode and there's that minute in which you see every character you got attached to in Stars Hollow making Rory a goodbye party it's like you feel connected with those people. That was the feeling from the original series. We felt connected, nostalgic and like we were a part of Stars Hollow. Those feelings don't exist in a Year in the Life. Some of the storylines don't make sense and are disconnected with the old series. Rory is lost, Lorelai is in a middle age crisis, Sookie isn't present, Michel is trying to leave the DragonFly Inn, Lane is the same and barely appears. The best storyline was Emily's. She has grown as a person. One of the best moments was when Rory walks in the Gilmore's house and we are able to see her memories with the Gilmore family. And the second best moment is Lorelai and Luke's wedding. Yeah, they seem to have communication problems yet but this time it is the right thing to do. She didn't marry secretly in Paris and there is no one between them. She did what she intended to and we can see that it was the right way to do because the wedding ended being so intimate as it could be. It was great to see all the characters again one more time but at the same time we feel like something is missing.

That tour of the house when Richard showed up absolutely destroyed me. I came to gilmore girls just after my grandfather died when I was 12 and Richard and he look so much alike that I instantly adored Richard's character. His death absolutely broke my heart because it felt like I'd lost another part of my grandfather.

Most of the people do not like the Rory of the revival. But I like her. She is not the perfect and super smart one with a great job. She did and does make mistakes and the selfish side is quite realistic. The only thing I do not like is the part with Paul...
@ameliehudini94147 жыл бұрын
Sasa Jott I get your feelings of Paul a lot. And I agree that she was always a bit self cantered, but I feel like she should have grown past that. She was also a lot more over-confident than she should have been. She said no to jobs and didn't prepare for interviews. She was sloppy. And that was something I would never have thought to see her be. Plus the whole thing with Logan - she should have learnt her lesson after what happened with Dean, shouldn't she?

Rory has always been selfish and self-centered, I agree that she has a good heart but honestly, sometimes she did hurt her loved ones and never really apologized for it. She finally goes through hardship as she was too confident on her luck, and that happens in life. I did like how they handled things for her.

That's what made me feel related to the story from the beginning, and now that I´m older, and still can relate to her mid-life crisis, because I´m going through one too!
@gabrielacarrera75877 жыл бұрын
Sasa Jott one this is for her not to have the job of her dreams another is her having a boyfriend who she never acknowledges & having a night stand. That is not Rory and her morals. They change her completely. I can still see her saying good-bye to Logan but not with all the other components.

this just somehow got me into thinking that if the original series would be closed with those legendary last words, we might have Rory turning down Logan's proposal even though she's pregnant (and the family would disapprove), but feeling more confident because she knows she can do it as Lorelai has done it on her own before too. would have been a much cooler ending.
@snowbird13817 жыл бұрын
I think the best things from this was Emily's and Jess's character developments, Lorelai fixing her mistake, and her and Luke finally getting married!

Emily was the best Gilmore girl, she learned from her problems, never tip toed, was honest, took responsibility after a few fights of course, always welcomed, she never hesitated to do things for her daughter and grand daughter, all she wanted was her family to be whole, sure she was cold and distant but she tried, she was from a whole different time, she liked the old ways like many parents or grand parents do, cuz it’s her normal,,,and in the end she was able to move on, I loved how she didn’t dwell on Richards death, she grew from it cuz he would have wanted her to enjoy life and that’s what she did

I think a great idea would be for the next season to be chapters as Rory writes her book. Rory interviewing people, etc. Each episode would feature certain people (like an episode titled "Luke" or "RIchard", etc. So we can get a real more in depth story on each character's history & where they are now, etc.

Moviesrocks2- I did too! Minus the musical scene, which I thought was a bit too long, I thought the revival was awesome! I do wish we'd gotten more romantic scenes with Luke & Lorelai though - I mean, I know they were all comfortable living together for so many years and settled into a routine, but a few more cute romantic moments would have been nice. I just felt the revival needed a nice heavy dose of L&L to help make up for how deprived we all were with how bad most of Season 6 & 7 were between them. I just adore them. I really think Lauren & Scott did an amazing job together, but they always had crazy chemistry, so it was just awesome. We really need more episodes - gotta see how the newlyweds are doing and how they feel about becoming grandparents!

Yeah, it would be nice to see him back! When he and Rory met in season 1, they were both young, naive and immature. She was the mysterious new girl while he was the popular student. He genuinely liked Rory but he didn't know the proper way to express it. He kept bothering Rory even after she rejected him, provoking her boyfriend and wasn't aware of how much Paris liked him. It was a good thing that they parted on good terms. But my oh my, wouldn't it be good if he returned and Rory decided to try something with him?

MsMojo the long drawn out theatre scene, the one night stand, dean's whole situation, WHO THE FATHER IS, Logan in general, the lack of jess, half assed pop culture references, rory acting ditsy and like she didn't care half the time, body shaming the dude at the pool...shall I go on? don't get me wrong, I loved the revival but there were some things that didn't seem true to the show and characters at all. it just kinda seemed like someone somewhere down the line didn't give a shit about how it was done.

Was anyone else annoyed with the Life and Death Brigade crap? I thought Rory was sick and done with that after season 7 because it made Logan act irresponsible and stupid. I thought it was cringing to watch that scene - a bunch of 32+ year olds running around acting the way they were.
