Super Mario never had a full storyline in its games, never mind the RPG's. "Story" was never the point of Mario's games to begin with, but fun was. The Mario movie was FUN, just like the games; that's the important thing. Plus, who doesn't feel anything -when Luigi does his thing- near the end of the movie?

If you went into that movie looking for a heady plot that makes you think, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a fun movie that really respects its source material and helps you forget how bad its predecessor was, Super Mario Bros is the movie for you. @@chrisrj9871 super Mario Bothers 1 and 2 have a storyline, princess Peach or princess Toadstool, I don't remember which one gets kidnapped by Bowser in part one and the Mario Brothers go save her. The North American version of Super Mario Brothers 2 is a dream that either Mario and Luigi are having one night. The super nes Mario world also has a storyline, I just don't remember what it was.

I've learned not to listen so strongly to professional critics after they panned most of my favourite childhood films, and simply forge my own opinions.
@InfinityDaniel01
@InfinityDaniel01 Жыл бұрын
I agree! Look, I know it’s confusing to explain this but I too want to have my own opinions about the movie itself. Same for my friends who also have an opinion. It’s good to argue but it’s not fair to force your friends by telling them that your opinion is better than theirs. This is why I’m not a public critic nor do I join the fan base/cultures of media brands like Nintendo. Critics LOVE debating but saying that their video game movie is the GOAT, same with athletes like Tom Brady. Look, everyone has an opinion to make. Respect and remember that not all opinions are the same. We should have respect for each other’s opinions because we’re not enemies like Brady and Manning or Mario & Bowser. We have a right to change our own opinions because we can make our own choices, not our friends' or enemies' choices. Brady is my own GOAT/Childhood hero and Halo is one of my childhood Games alongside Call of Duty and Wii Sports. That’s my opinion.

dude back in the 80's you could consider it the most hated film of the 80's in general, literally in 82 some critics called it one of the worst films of all time. The bias was real because it came out two weeks after E.T. The Extraterrestrial. Which I mean yeah that's on the studio for releasing it so close to the other Alien based movie, but still critics were not kind to it. Then it got a critical reassessment and man the change, it went from "worst films of all time" to "one of the best horror films ever made" if not one of the best films ever made in general.

All of John Capenter's directorial early works were hated on by the critics. ALL of them. People say the release window was badly timed, and it was, but even if it was released a year later it still would've been panned just not as hard. One movie that me and general audiences really like but critics don’t is “A Dog’s Purpose”(and the sequel “A Dog’s Journey”). I don’t really understand their problems with the movies. IMO at least, I thought they were really emotional and told a really compelling story about relationships, personal growth, life, death, and especially the strong bonds owners have with their dogs. As a dog owner myself, I’d say it passed with flying colors. And the emotional moments hit even harder for my now since I just recently put my own dog down. They certainly aren’t flawless but I still absolutely love both movies and would watch them over “The Queen’s Corgi” any day.

@@lynnevetter while I did hear about the controversy of the film makers forcing the German shepherd into the water against its will, and while that is definitely a problem in the filming of a lot of animal movies that shouldn’t have happened in the first place, I was talking about the movie in practice. Not behind the scenes. A lot of shows and movies have a lot of behind the scenes drama that can negatively affect overall opinion and while I still keep those moments in check as they shouldn’t have happened, I don’t let it effect my overall enjoyment of a property.

Even today's younger generation won't know what that scene had meant. That quote is from 'The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson', and that's what Ed McMahon said in the beginning of the show. So, in that movie 'The Shining (1980)', that had meant, possibly, another evil persona that was far more disturbing was about to reveal itself. 🥶

Peeping Tom also had a very harsh critical reception back when it was first released in 1960; to the point of pretty much nuking the career of filmmaker Michael Powell. Nowadays, however, the film is hailed as a horror classic and one of the predecessors of the slasher genre.

I would have thought the good the bad and the ugly deserved to be on the list cause at the time spaghetti western films was looked down on by critics and for it violence and well as it story plots with the movie ending with the death of the villain as unlike the Hollywood western where the hero either is reunited with loved ones. But since then it is seen as one of the greats westerns every made and Clint eastwoods most famous film.

I don’t really care what anybody else thinks about Mairo Brothers movie, I loved it. Everything about it just took me back to the happiest moments of my life, that were playing all the old Mairo games. How the movie featured just the right amount of original game sounds, and music samples was so good. Anyone who didn’t like it isn’t a true fan.

I like to read reviews but only when I've seen the thing, I actually like some points and tey to be open but I also hate some other but the best way os to judge any film, series or just anything by ourselves, the industry is mostly reflected on how things may be better or resonate by rules or how things are supposed to be but sometimes as this list show is most about how it resonates with the public.

I didn’t even exist in the 80’s (I was born in 2002 lol) but I can’t believe “The Thing” is on here, that’s crazy. It’s pretty stupid to release it around the movie “ET” if you ask me, that’s their fault.

I personally don’t take professional film critics 💯% seriously when it comes to their reviews of films. I _acknowledge_ their reviews and opinions, and I do take the time to read/listen to their talking points *if* there are certain aspects of a particular film I happen to agree with. But for the _most_ part, I just simply form my own individual personal opinions on films.
