Being one of those filthy limeys, I never even HEARD of the turbo grafix or pc engine in the UK until I was in my 20s or 30s. Shame as well because it looked like it could hang with the rest of them. Sega should have learned something from how it handled it's cd add on as it doesn't look like a giant waste of time and produced some belters. The music in rondo still kicks so much ass. That opener.

I think Military Madness got more play than every other game we had combined. It's an easy #1 for me. It is too bad that there aren't many balanced levels for PvP play though. I mean, we made do by giving handicaps of different sorts, giving the blue player an extra turn or not letting the green player grab a particular factory on the first two turns, etc., and there was some fun in trying to balance things like this, but it still would've been to have the game more geared towards PvP play, because that's how we overwhelmingly used it.

Spanish guy here. It was sold in Europe actually. I bought it at Spain's biggest retail store at that time and you could find games on some stores too. We even had a NEC club. I called them a couple of times, bought some games from them and they sent me mails from time to time. The box had a very nice bluish design based on R-Type's second stage, if I remember correctly, and the console itself was exactly like its american counterpart but used red and blue instead of orange and green as accent colours. It had a propietary connector on the side and came with RF and RCA leads. Sadly, it was 50Hz, but on the other hand it was compatible with american games. It was the least popular of the "16-bit" consoles but many people remember it (people who liked videogames, I mean. Consoles were not nearly as popular as they're today). It was also regularly featured on gaming magazines. Just Google "Turbografx PAL" and you'll find it. EDIT: Typos

There are so many top 5 and top 10 and similar lists everywhere, and they usually repeat the same games. (e.g. the Sonic, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Castlevania, Mega Man games…) Yes, we know about those, they are extremely famous for good reasons. I'd be more interested in the top 11th-to-20th games, or the top non-obvious games on those platforms. It would be similar to a "hidden gems" list, but these are not necessarily hidden. They are just great games shadowed by the other massively famous games.

I’m a new PC-Duo owner and I’ve been looking for game recommendations recently. (Got to the final boss in Lords of Thunder tonight, but damn that game is hard.) This game sack is just what I wanted tbh. Thanks Joe

I really love how well made this video was. I especially loved the graphics for the names of the games listed. I’m really hoping for Top 10 videos for the SNES and Genesis too.

I had a dream last night where I met Joe Game Sack at my workplace. I used the opportunity to request that he make a radio buddy skit featuring Kyuutenkai Fantasy Pinball for Sega Saturn. In an actually relevant note, good video! Personally I like the versions of the Wonder Boy games released on PC-Engine.

Great video; can’t really argue with this list of amazing games! I think NES, SNES, Genesis, and GameBoy would all be great for a top ten video.

It doesn't matter if a believe I know this games well enough. Every time Joe talks about them is fun and interesting, and often I discover something new.

Enjoyed the vid! Since you've covered thousands of games it's cool to hear u rank 'em. My only wish is a # 20-11 video for these as well

Eyes on your own paper Joe! Your list is almost exactly like mine! And I also think The Legendary Axe should have been the pack in…

Another Sunday morning with Sunday morning breakfast and game sack, keep them coming. Feels like when I would have breakfast and watch Saturday morning cartoons, I'm that old 😁

Nice list. PCE is such a great system. It was interesting to see your opinion shift from some previous videos such as listing Soldier Blade over Final Soldier and Lords of Thunder instead of Gate of Thunder. It's like you said, a favorite games list is always changing. I'm the same way. Looking forward to future videos like this!

I DO NOT remember that "suckin' you while you cussin'" part of Rondo at all but it's good to know that it's there. I keep thinking about giving that game another playthrough on my PC Engine like every single day, it might be time to do that.

I am a Blazing Lazers fan, but I can see why that was the alternative. Some other TG16 games I enjoy a lot are Parasol Stars (purportedly getting a Switch physical release from Strictly Limited Games if they can get it out in the next 5 years), Air Zonk and Dragon's Curse, which sadly was not included on the massive Wonder Boy collection that came out.

Salute! PC Engine in recent years might have become my favourite 20th century console. It's just so visually vibrant, I love the waveforms the sound chip uses. Your next top 10 list should just be another PC Engine list. But on the off chance you don't go that route, come on, it's gotta be the Genesis.
