My favorite breakdown of all time is probably New Millenium Cyanide Christ by Meshuggah. Only because it starts with only guitars and bass on a strange pattern, so you kinda expect it to go into a weird time signature, but then the cymbals and snare start going on 4/4 and at that point your neck just moves on its own. Bleed from Within did something similar for Killing Time, only for a much shorter breakdown, so it doesn't really feel the same. But it still is an insane way to warn the listener before a breakdown

I love all my metalcore and deathcore breakdowns but the breakdown in Liege of Inveracity (a.k.a. the first slam riff ever) is GOATED and gets me going like little else. That riff was so good it spawned an entire genre of people making entire songs of that riff, being slam. So yeah big deserved for them being on here. Also, cool seeing Dali thundering concept being mentioned here. Overall solid list of the more known and unknown bands.

Motion less in white (cyberhex/ this one actually slaps and easy to like) 5. Imminence (heaven in hiding/ really calm song with a breakdown that caught me offguard) 6. Thy art is murder (reign of darkness/ soul left my body) 7. Lorna shore (to the hellfire/ i don't think i have to say smth) 8. Imminence (moth to a flame/ not much going on and easy to like but it fits very good) 9. Fit for an autopsy (hellions/ stank mode activated 10. Absolutely! You could make a top 10 ugliest breakdowns JUST from Tallah's 2 albums (Matriphagy & The Generation of Danger, get both if you love the elite of Nu Metal; Slipknot, Mudvayne, Korn, Chimaira, etc.)!!!

I’ve been a lurker for awhile but have to comment finally. Right off the bat yet again why I come back to your channels daily…. Your description of Bryan is the perfect simplified description I’ve felt but couldn’t explain to people “ very pissed sound”. Simple and perfect!

I know thrash bands aren’t really known for breakdowns (except when they do sorta slow or half time songs, few songs come to mind), but one of my favourite breakdowns that comes right after a great solo is Onslaught’s “Code Black”.: The drums hitting hard as fuck while the bass rips that shit right before the whole band just punches you in the gut AND the face at the same time, and then to top it off, Sy Keeler’s amazing growls just makes you want to destroy your entire neighbourhood. I just love that part so much.

Nik you’re way too respectful, this list was straight dog cheeks. The breakdowns were good for the times they came out but since Rain in Blood and Domination we have a ton of newer bands that have made some of the nastiest break downs of all time IMO. Damn I might have to make my own top 10 lol
