My favorites: 1. Revision of the "Happy Birthday" copyright status: The copyright is no longer valid and the song is now in the public domain. 2. Bohemian Rhapsody. Due to the novelty of the twenty-four-track, two-inch tape recorder at the time, Freddy Mercury produced the "rock opera" segment of the song with so many overdubs, the tape's oxide layer wore so thin, not only did it require extensive use of Dolby A noise reduction, the tape was translucent.

When Queen recorded "The show must go on", Freddie Mercury, the lead singer, was dying of HIV/AIDS. He was so ill when the song was recorded that Brian May, the guitarist, was concerned whether Freddie was physically capable of singing it or not. But recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' - vodka down - and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal." Which means Freddie Mercuy nailed one of the toughest songs for male singers on his first attempt, even though he was dying. That's "unbeliveble facts in music history" to me!

Someone has to put an end to this myth that the Greek national anthem has 158 stanzas. That has been repeated by ignorant media (mostly NBC during the Olympics) and it is completely false. The Greek National anthem is made up of just TWO stanzas that are taken from an epic poem called "Hymn to freedom". The poem itself has 158 stanzas but only the first two stanzas make up the Greek National anthem.

Another 27 club member, Ronnie Van Zant, knew he wouldn't make 28. He told everyone he wouldn't. He knew the fateful flight would be his end. It happened very close to his 28th birthday. Toto, known to most only for the son Africa, is technically the most successful band of all time. They're a supergroup of the most sought after session musicians in the industry at the time they got together and a conservative estimate of their total song credits is somewhere over 5000. (Thanks to FactFiend for this one). Elton John struggled with the chorus for Circle of Life. He'd written the whole some but couldn't shake the feeling that there was something missing in the build up. He asked for Andrew Lloyd Webber's thoughts and his suggestion was exactly perfect. The line he gave? "On the path unwinding". I know a few more but they're a little too apocryphal for me to comfortably tout as facts.

As a Creedence fan, I can confirm that it was not his band mates, but their record label Fantasy Records. A cooler story about Screamin' Jay Hawkins is that when he served in the Vietnam War he was captured, imprisoned, and tortured. When he was saved and freed by fellow Americans, he grabbed a machine gun and a hand grenade to turned back to the room he had been held in. Hawkins broke into the room and killed one of the prison guards, then he forcefully tied the other (his torturer) to a chair at gunpoint. Hawkins ordered the man to open his mouth, the gun to his head. He then took out the hand grenade, stuck it in the torturers mouth and wrapped it shut. After removing the key on the grenade he quickly ran out of the room and laid flat on the ground outside the door. He sat and watched his torturer's head explode. A sweet victory for old Screamin' Jay!

Some facts for all you Moonwalkers: - Michael Jackson didn’t want to do Motown 25, and only agreed with Berry Gordy to do it if he could do a solo performance. Little did anyone know that would become probably the greatest single performance of a song ever. - Quincy Jones originally hated the extended Bass part to Billie Jean, but Michael said that it made him want to dance, and to quote Quincy “When Michael Jackson tells you it makes him want to dance, everyone’s gotta shut up”. - Thriller, selling estimates of anywhere between 65-100 million copies, took 6 months to record, while Invincible, selling 8-10 million copies, took 2-3 years. - The gangs in the Beat It music video are real gangs from the street, and so are the ones in The Way You Make Me Feel. - In the tie Michael wears in Smooth a Criminal is a nickel, as when Michael spins, it makes the tie spin with him properly. - I Just Can’t Stop Loving you was either rejected or cancelled to be sung with Whitney Houston or Barbra Streisand - Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury almost made an entire album together in the mid 80’s, but only ended up recording 3 songs together. There Must Be More To Life Than This, which you can find on KZbin, or an official remix on Streaming services. State Of a Shock, which was meant to be recorded fully for the Jackson’s album Victory, but due to touring and disagreements between the two a demo only exists unofficially, and the version on the album ended up being a duet between Michael and Mick Jagger. And the last song is Victory, which has never been released or even heard. Coincidentally, the Jackson’s album of around the same time as these 3 recordings is called Victory.

Elvis Presley was introduced to the world purely by accident. In 1955 Bill Hailey's Comets had a B side played by mistake by a DJ it was "Rock Around the Clock" it became famous, and also Bill Hailey was the first artist to use the electric guitar as a main instrument, previously the piano was used, anyway after Bill and the Comet's fame their manager said to Bill " I have a young kid out of Memphis can he open for you (a young unknown teen named Elvis Presley) and Bill said yes, the rest is history. It's also in the Elvis hard cover book where Elvis is shaking Bill's hand and saying " if it wasn't for you I'd still be driving a truck" . I know this stuff because I am best friends with the drummer Joey Kay, who played with Bill at the time of his death from alcoholism in 1983, (he also worked with Otis Redding when "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay was famous) I also worked as a Comet after Bill's death, and I worked with Elvis Presley's son (Elvis Presley jr. (look him up on the net) who by the way in my professional opinion is as good as his dad). P.S. in Elvis's will it says to all my children, he had many and lost contact and count.

Favorite Fact: Queen's lead singer Freddie Mercury did his last recording of "The Show Must Go On" from a wheelchair, in one take, AND passed out from exhaustion in the end. Everyone in the room thought he had died. But he lived a few weeks more until dying from AIDS. Drop the mic.

From the last week of 1977 to the first week of 1979, songs written by Barry Gibb were at #1 for 27 of those 54 weeks. For more than a year he had the #1 song half of the time.

I hate the way she overpronounces "Celine Dion"... it's so bad.

@@humbertperez8904, are you sure? How to pronounce Celine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmmTaK2kedWpeqc How to pronounce Dion: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aamzh5Ruj9h0b7M Sounds like that's how to say it in French. Plus based on the 7 years of french I took to University graduate level, I'm pretty sure the presenter's proununciation is close enough.

@Jozi X, just for clarification, I did 7 years of French with some of those being at high school, but I finished at University graduate level. Though I did study 4 years at university for what it's worth.

Mariah's whistle register is an unbelievable fact. She can still hit them. People who claim she lips them are in over their heads. Nobody lasts as long as her by just lipsyncing every performance.
