That solo on hunnybee is almost impossible for me but I just think I need to keep practicing. Definitely one of the most difficult ones

agreed! it’s a really tricky one! i think its probably because not only is it fast, but he repeats a couple of notes on top of each other, so even when slowed down the solo doesn’t sound too clear to the ears! it still doesn’t feel 100% but i did my best and hope it helps other people to tackle it!

Not enough appreciation for the other side (cooler?) of guitar playing that is Nielson's guitar work. He's bold enough to call it outsider art when it comes to II, I'm not sure if I'd agree but it's definitely unconventional, unorthodox and unheard of. Not the conventional "outside" sound i.e Zappa, King Crimson but more poppy, accessible sound that's nothing short of strange. Side note, I've recently heard of an obscure korean artist called Mid Air Thief that features some guitar which sounds has some acoustic guitarworks that sound like UMO, highly recommend you guys to check it out!

absolutely! i find ruban’s approach to the guitar very captivating! saw them live in 2017 in são paulo, and it was great! while you can find some clear nods to zappa and hendrix, especially the thumb over the sixth string and some chords in particular, it’s clear he has developed a style of his own, especially considering the mixing side of things! his song sound really his own! thanks for commenting!

UMO is one of if not my favorite bands and you absolutely killed it man. That Hunnybee solo is blazing fast and I can only play it right maybe 1 time out of 10 if I'm lucky, so you did great! Any advice? lol

hi! thank you so very much for the comment! i’m so glad i did these songs justice! 🙏 i have a great memory of seeing umo live with their best band formation yet imo in 2016 here in são paulo and i was literally sitting in the stage, t’was an awesome show! now regarding hunnybee, i’ll be honest, i had to practice this solo for two days to get the feel of it, and even then i wasn’t 100% sure cause it’s so fast and has these overlapping parts and when you watch live performances he always plays a little bit different, except for the KEXP, if i’m not mistaken, where he plays it really similar to the studio version and i watched this in a loop to try and get it as close as possible! that’s my main suggestion, listen and memorize to solo as best as you can, then watch him play in 0.5 speed and then try to figure note by note. I’m not the biggest fan of online tabs, as i find them to be usually unreliable but that may help occasionally! anyway, thanks again! 😉
