Born and raised here. I'm in a really small town, population around 2500-5000. We've only had 2 murders that I know of since the 90s..but we have had a few different murderers from here. I knew all of the people that did those crimes. Some were friends. At least 2 murders were illegal substances related and the one that happened in the 90s was absolutely disgusting. I knew the 80 year old lady that was beaten, raped, and her home set fire. We used to live behind her in the 80s when I was only like 2 years old. But I was also friends with one of the boys that did this heinous act. It was 3 kids, we were all still in school. The one boy lived next door to her. The boys were about 14 if I remember. They beat her with cat food cans inside pillow cases, raped her, set fire to the house to cover up the evidence killing her and her cats, which she really loved those cats. It was heartbreaking. It makes me sick to this day to think about this. Poor Mrs. Roberts. May she RIP with her husband who passed before her and her precious kitties. And the friend of mine that was the ring leader, Danny McCauley, he unalived himself in prison a few years back. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
